## The honest read

Interior decorators shop here. One wrote in June 2024 that she and her partner have used K. Powers for years — the carpet selection vast and varied, the people knowledgeable, low pressure and happy to work at all price points. A May 2023 reviewer said the Needham showroom has supplied Capello Design with carpets for its clients for years, and called the staff organized enough to make the ordering painless.

A June 2026 customer came in for a stair runner, had the showroom's designers help pick it and install it, and found wallpaper they had been hunting for — with a return trip planned for an area rug. In March 2023, someone who walked in looking for Mirage Flooring wrote afterwards that the people K. Powers sent did a neat job laying the wood floor.

The Charles Street showroom sells and installs wool carpets, custom rugs, stair runners, hardwood and vinyl flooring, and Hunter Douglas window treatments; the company lists an authorized Hunter Douglas dealership and a Gallery showroom. It says it has been doing this since 1992, for homeowners, designers and commercial clients around Needham, Wellesley, Newton, Weston, Dover, Brookline, Westwood, Watertown and Boston. A July 2026 reviewer who has known Kathleen there for years still remembers the design events held at the showroom.

Its Google rating is 5 stars across 15 ratings, and the nine written accounts run from 2022 to July 2026.

For a homeowner who wants to see and feel the carpet before it goes down, and wants a stair runner measured by someone who does them often, this is the kind of showroom to walk into. Ask for the installed price in writing, including who will be doing the installing, and confirm the lead time on anything ordered in.

**Strengths:**
- Carpet selection — a 2024 decorator cited range at all price points
- Stair runners — a June 2026 customer had one picked and installed
- Wood floor installs — a March 2023 review called the work neat
- Low-pressure showroom — a 2024 decorator described knowledgeable, unpushy staff
- Hunter Douglas — the company lists an authorized dealership and gallery
