It carries 4.9 stars from 27 Google ratings and 5.0 from 26 on Houzz. A recent customer who did both a new build and a renovation with the firm wrote that it handled cabinetry, tile, fixtures and design under one roof, from initial design through final installation. A recent customer said Karen coordinated with their GC to keep the project on track. On a project that was not local, a recent customer said Manager Cindy McCreight handled the execution and stayed with them throughout. A 2025 customer wrote that their kitchen and baths in a 100 year old pre-war co-op were expanded while adhering to co-op regulations. A 2022 customer said Iris came up with a design for a small bathroom, pulled the fixtures and tiles together and had everything delivered promptly. In 2017, a customer wrote on Houzz that the firm worked with their contractor on a gutted 50 year old bathroom to fit a walk-in shower, a vanity and storage. A 2025 customer left two stars. That customer said a bathroom project had hiccups and needed material repairs before the cabinets were functional, and called a kitchen project an "absolute nightmare across the board with their cabinets." The same 2025 customer wrote that "Emails and calls will go ignored" and that the plumbing fixtures carried a large markup the firm would not stand behind, while calling the installer great. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0698590, as active, held by Karen Berkemeyer Home. **Strengths:** - Kitchen design — a recent customer praised Karen's suggestions and GC coordination - Remote project support — a recent customer said the manager stayed throughout - One-roof selections — a recent customer cited cabinetry, tile, fixtures and design **Concerns:** - Cabinet problems — a 2025 customer called a kitchen project a nightmare - Unanswered messages — a 2025 customer wrote that emails and calls go ignored - Fixture markup — a 2025 customer said marked-up fixtures were not backed **Where sources disagree:** - The company's Houzz profile says it has been designing kitchens and baths for over 30 years, while its website states 10 years in business. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Based in Westport, CT; the company says it serves Fairfield and Westchester County _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](https://karenberkemeyerhome.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): At Karen Berkemeyer Home, we simplify the design process through thoughtful planning and expert guidance—cr…” - 4.9 stars from 27 Google ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Karen%20Berkemeyer%20Home&query_place_id=ChIJiZr2XYAb6IkRaWza1mTsOdE) — “Google: 4.9★ from 27 ratings” - 5.0 stars from 26 Houzz ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Houzz](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/kitchen-and-bath-designers/karen-berkemeyer-home-pfvwus-pf~973142122) — “Houzz: 5.0★ from 26 ratings” - A recent customer said the firm handled cabinetry, tile, fixtures and design from initial design through final installation _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sChZDSUhNMG9nS0VPUzlzWnVlNWNYeVBBEAE!2m1!1s0x0:0xd139ec64d6da6c69!3m1!1s2@1:CIHM0ogKEOS9sZue5cXyPA%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Karen Berkemeyer Home is exceptional in every way.
