## The honest read

Lone Pine Tree Service takes down and prunes trees, and it holds a 5-star Google average across 108 ratings. The company lists a service area that includes New Hartford, Farmington, Burlington, Torrington, Canton, Avon, Litchfield and Simsbury, and says it offers 24/7 emergency service. A recent customer said RJ and Mike took down 6 large trees, showed up when they said they would and handled the clean up.

Mike and his team took down a large, mature maple and pruned three other mature trees for one recent customer, arriving on time and finishing ahead of schedule. On a humid day with a late downpour and thunder, RJ and Mike removed a pine tree and a weeping willow for a recent customer, piling branches under the tree as they went and avoiding power lines. A customer who gardens said they contacted the town to find out where the septic system was to prevent damage, and that not a single plant was damaged when large trees came out of the garden beds. A recent customer said RJ and Mike dropped a dozen dying beech trees that were threatening to fall in the road. A 2026 customer wrote that RJ and Mike climbed to remove some large trees in a very tight space where the preferred equipment could not be used.

A 2026 customer said Mike and RJ thinned three overgrown trees — a cherry, a crab apple and a mac apple — limiting canopy removal to roughly 33% and finishing in one day. A recent customer said they removed dead and low-hanging branches from a large oak and rehung the grandchildren's rope swing on a much higher branch. A 2026 customer said the price was reasonable even with the added expense of a crane from Krane Works.

A 2025 customer said that after a storm left large trees down, ending at a tree in their horse paddock, RJ came out the same day, and RJ and Mike took down and put back up the fencing. A 2025 customer wrote that RJ and Mike used a 75-foot bucket truck to remove two dead ash trees at a family cottage in Winsted. A 2024 customer said they thought Mike and RJ cleared 20+ trees and miles of grape vines in 2 days, despite some chipper issues.

**Strengths:**
- Large tree removal — maple, pine, willow and beech trees taken down
- Thorough cleanup — job sites left with nothing to clean up
- Fruit tree pruning — a 2026 customer said canopy removal stayed near 33%
- Storm response — a 2025 customer said RJ came out the same day
- Fair pricing — prices called reasonable, fair or competitive
