## The honest read

Loyal Garage Door Repair is a Wallingford garage door company holding 4.8 stars from 52 Google ratings, and the recent reviews are short and positive: "They fixed my door," "Good job." The company's site lists a service area running from Wallingford and Meriden to North Haven, Hamden, Cheshire, New Haven and Middletown, and says it offers free estimates, 24/7 emergency service and is insured.

The fuller accounts are older. In a November 2025 review, a Wallingford homeowner said the crew arrived quickly and installed and calibrated a keypad; another that month, from North Haven, called the technician considerate and skilled. A June 2024 customer said the technician was booked for 3 o'clock and arrived by 2:50, and another that month said the company fixed the garage door at their store and got them back to doing business. A 2024 review describes a garage door replacement, and another a thorough safety inspection.

Two reviews describe something very different, both about the technician sent out. In a November 2024 review, a customer said a tech replaced two springs for $2,100, then pitched a $1,800 opener, said he had no card machine and offered app payment instead; when the customer called the main number, the person who answered said the issue was between the tech and the customer. That reviewer wrote that the company sends out third-party people. In a March 2025 review, a homeowner said a tech quoted a new motor, then spring work at $500-800, would not take no for an answer, did not accept cards, and was paid the $100 service call by a check made out to him personally.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0668771, as inactive due to non-renewal, held by Loyal Garage Door Repair LLC.

**Strengths:**
- Punctual arrivals — June 2024 tech arrived early for a 3 o'clock slot
- Keypad installation — November 2025 customer praised calibration and safety checks

**Concerns:**
- Pushy technicians — two reviews describe upselling and pressure
- Payment to the tech — two reviews say cards were refused
- Office response — 2024 customer told the dispute was with the tech
