## The honest read

Mansfield Oil & Energy has been delivering heating oil in the Mansfield area since 1961, a company history corroborated independently by its Better Business Bureau file, and describes itself today as a family-owned operation that also installs and repairs home heating and air conditioning equipment.

The clearest thread in its reviews is a technician named Keith, credited in a 2022 review from an eight-year customer for repeatedly rescuing an aging, 38-year-old boiler and teaching the homeowner how the system works along the way, coming same-day according to that account. A 2024 review describes a similarly smooth oil delivery, and a 2021 review calls the company reliable with quick delivery over years of use.

The one real concern worth knowing before calling: in a January 2024 review, a longtime-area resident says Mansfield Oil refused to service a broken oil burner during a 15-degree cold snap, with a one-year-old at home and no heat, because she wasn't currently a regular oil customer — telling her it wouldn't matter if it was an emergency. That's a specific, serious account of someone being turned away in a genuine emergency, not a vague complaint.

Anyone counting on them for emergency heating repair should confirm directly whether service depends on being an active oil customer, especially if oil isn't currently being bought through them. The praise in the record is real, but so is this account.

**Strengths:**
- Technician Keith — repeatedly fixed an aging boiler, taught homeowner along the way
- Long operating history — family-owned oil delivery since 1961
- Reliable delivery — customers cite quick turnaround over years of use

**Concerns:**
- Emergency service refusal — turned away a non-regular customer during a no-heat cold-weather emergency
