## The honest read

Matthew R. Foti Landscape Design & Construction is a Billerica firm the owner has run since, by his own account, 1977. Matt Foti has held a Massachusetts Certified Arborist credential since 1978 and belongs to the American Society of Consulting Arborists and the Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals. The work reviewers describe blends the two trades in its name: real tree knowledge applied to a home landscape.

In a 2022 review, a homeowner had Foti plant four large trees in their backyard after Matt walked the property and suggested species based on what they wanted; a 2023 review from a repeat client credits Matt, Mark and the crew across several projects for listening to what the client wanted and staying flexible on design. An August 2025 review singles out Mark for patience through a project that balanced budget and looks, and says the client will be calling again. On Reddit, a 2023 fire-recovery renovation thread describes Matt personally showing up with his own mobile sawmill to turn fire-damaged pines into usable boards rather than just hauling them away.

The one wrinkle: the most recent review, from August 2026, is about the company showing up with a dump truck and bobcat to a children's playroom's touch-a-truck event rather than a landscape job, a nice show of community involvement, but it means the written record on the actual design and tree work itself still runs through 2025.

If you want a landscape plan grounded in real arboriculture rather than just planting a few shrubs, Foti's decades of tree-specific credentials are the differentiator worth calling about.

**Strengths:**
- Certified arborist owner — MA credential since 1978
- Tree-savvy landscaping — species picks matched to the site
- Repeat clients — flexible design across several projects
