## The honest read

Maxim Home Inspections is a home inspection business whose website lists a service area that includes Newtown, Danbury, Waterbury and Southbury. A recent customer named Justin as the owner of Maxim.

A recent customer said Justin Birtwell spent about 3.5 hours inspecting the home and walked sections of the roof in addition to taking drone footage. That customer paid for radon, termite and septic inspections on top of the base inspection, and said a chimney inspection through Spotless Chimney was included at no additional cost.

A recent first-time homebuyer said they spent the whole day at the inspection shadowing and added termite, radon and sewer lateral scoping inspections. A recent customer said the report was ready the same day as promised. A 2026 customer who was buying from overseas said he provided a comprehensive report with photos. A 2025 customer said he was there for about 3 hours, the report arrived the next day, and he would be returning to read the radon test.

It holds 5 stars from 31 Google ratings and 5.0 stars from 12 Thumbtack ratings, and the Better Business Bureau grades it A-.

Connecticut lists its home inspector licence, HOI.0001439, as active, held by Justin Birtwell.

**Strengths:**
- Roof walked in person — a recent customer saw him walk sections of the roof
- Same-day report — a recent customer said it was ready as promised
- Add-on inspections — radon, termite, septic and sewer scoping were booked
