## The honest read

Tony Walsh's crew takes on the kind of job you have to live through. In a March 2026 review a family said Mayo Construction redid essentially their whole interior — bathrooms, kitchen, HVAC, plumbing, all the finish work — and they came out of it happy. Another homeowner that same month had a significant renovation and expansion delivered on time, and made a point of saying the subcontractors were good to deal with too.

Mayo is a family- and locally-owned general contractor working out of Walpole and, by its own description, the Greater Boston area. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #126244, is active on the state registry in the company's own name. Additions are the backbone of the work: a 2015 Houzz reviewer's 1930s house was roughly doubled by an addition built to sit naturally against the original, and that customer hired the firm again later to gut and renovate two bedrooms. Another 2015 customer had been using Mayo since a 2001 addition that took in a kitchen, bathroom, family room and porch.

Smaller exterior projects turn up as well. In a March 2026 review a homeowner had the front porch and back deck rebuilt, and walked through it from the first consultation to the final cleanup. A 2015 customer had a new front entrance, the house re-shingled and its original windows re-trimmed, brick and stone front steps, and a full repaint. Reviewers going back to 2015 keep mentioning the same two things: being kept informed while the job ran, and a work site left clean at the end of the day.

Two items to sort out before you sign. How long they have been at this depends on which page you read — the Houzz profile field says 28 years, its own About text says 20, Angi says 26 — and the customer who dated a first job to 2001 puts it somewhere in that range. Houzz also lists a Westwood address and a phone number different from the Walpole one on the company's own website, so use the number on mayoconstructioncorp.com. Worth knowing too that the written history leans old: seven of the eleven accounts run from 2015 to 2018, five of them posted inside a single week in November 2015.

For an addition, a whole-floor renovation, or a porch-and-deck rebuild around Walpole, this is an owner-run outfit with active state registration and customers who came back for a second and third project. Confirm the registration number, and get the schedule written into the contract.
