Last 6 months: 0 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read Meyer and Sons Builders is a two-generation, family-run design-build firm in West Dennis that Trevor Meyer took over from his father in 2014. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is verified active, and the company's Google page shows a 4.8-star average across 21 ratings covering kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, gut renovations, and new custom homes across Cape Cod. What repeat customers keep coming back for is the process: reviewers describe a client portal for tracking updates, a named project manager coordinating vendor decisions, and Trevor Meyer personally walking through a permitting issue with the town on one job. Several clients have hired the firm more than once — one across two projects over ten years, another across two properties — and describe upfront, fixed estimates with no surprise costs. A 2025 review recounts the company rebuilding a house down to the studs and coordinating an HVAC upgrade after a fire; another describes a full gut renovation of a waterfront short-term rental that led the same client to book them again for new construction. One recent review, from April 2026, raises a serious concern: a homeowner says an engineering plan for a leaching field was stamped and signed listing town water when the property is on a well, that the water source was never verified with the town, and that the company has refused responsibility for the resulting requirement to hook up to town water. BuildZoom's permit records show roughly 50 permitted projects for the firm, about 41 in the last three years, mostly home additions and new construction. BuildZoom separately lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #181535, as inactive and at one point cancelled per state consumer-affairs records — a different number from the company's current, active registration. Before hiring, it's worth asking directly about the leaching-field complaint, and for anything touching septic or town-utility approvals, confirming who is verifying the details with the town. **Strengths:** - Client portal — tracks updates with named project managers - Repeat clients — several rehired across multiple projects over years - Fixed estimates — upfront pricing with no surprise cost changes **Concerns:** - Leaching field error — stamped plans misstated water source, no accountability ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration verified active _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 187252 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: Meyer and Sons Builders, Inc.” - Family-run, two-generation firm; Trevor Meyer took over from his father in 2014 _(confidence: medium)_ - [capecodlife.com](https://capecodlife.com/shorethings-at-the-corner-of-home-owners-and-home-builders/) — “capecodlife.com — taking over his father’s design-build firm Meyer & Sons Builders Inc. in 2014” - [Houzz](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/general-contractors/meyer-and-sons-inc-pfvwus-pf~1008475629) — “Stated ownership (Houzz): Family-owned” - Reviewers describe a client portal and named project managers coordinating projects _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2pSc1ExQkdVbUpKYUhCTVVWbEtXbmh2ZVVOSWJGRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x85a2b6808868c0cb!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOjRsQ1BGUmJJaHBMUVlKWnhveUNIbFE%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ Meyer & Sons were the perfect company for us remodeling from out of town.
