Its site lists furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, oil-to-gas conversions, air conditioning and ductless mini-splits. Its BBB grade is an A+, and it holds 4.8 stars from 33 Google ratings. A recent customer whose central AC compressor failed said they patiently answered questions about the options, moved quickly to get a new unit, and phoned customers with existing appointments to ask if they could move them so the new unit would be installed as fast as possible. A 2025 customer replacing a 35-year-old system said they interviewed four HVAC companies first, and that Mid-State installed a second zone and a two-stage system for less than others were quoting for a single-stage, single-zone system. A 2024 customer who had a new furnace and AC put in said Donna, one of the owners, handles transaction information and financing questions, and that Larry, her husband and owner, did the estimate. That 2024 customer said the installers arrived at 8:00 am and were done by 3:00 pm, and called the pricing very fair after comparing it with two other companies. A 2024 customer said their HVAC sits in a half-basement reached through a shoulder-width hatch in the floor, and that they took the new unit apart and rebuilt it in the basement to install it. That 2024 customer said the unit had run for 2 years since then. A 2023 customer said a service call on the heating and central AC found a 30-year-old boiler throwing deadly amounts of CO into the home, and that they then installed a new boiler. That 2023 customer said Donna scheduled the job within 5 business days of the first service. A 2023 customer hired them for a combi boiler installation and watched three men go straight to work. A 2022 customer said they responded immediately when the fan on a heating system broke, found a hard-to-find part, and fixed it in a day during a cold snap. **Strengths:** - A fast AC replacement — a recent customer said they moved appointments to install sooner - A tight-access install — a 2024 customer said they rebuilt a unit in a half-basement - A boiler safety find — a 2023 customer said service found CO from an old boiler - A one-day repair — a 2022 customer said a broken fan was fixed in a day ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Says it has been in business for 37 years _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://mid-statemechanical.com) — “Self-reported 37 years in business” - Lists a service area including Middletown, Meriden, Berlin and Wallingford _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://mid-statemechanical.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): Berlin, Cromwell, Farmington, Glastonbury, West Hartford, Manchester, Meriden, Middletown, Newington, P…” - Holds an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/middletown/profile/mechanical-contractors/mid-state-mechanical-contractor-0111-87008301) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - Google: 4.8 stars from 33 ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Mid%20State%20Mechanical%20Contractor&query_place_id=ChIJSdwC5wJL5okR1O7V7WHOsng) — “Google: 4.8★ from 33 ratings” - Heating and air conditioning system installation _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT201MGIxaFlYMGhsZWtKQk1IQnViM00zTUY5eVltYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x78b2ce61edd5eed4!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOm50b1hYX0hlekJBMHBub3M3MF9yYmc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ My HVAC system was 35 years old and I was in need of replacement for heating and air.
