## The honest read

A 90-foot dead hickory leaning over a cottage, less than 15 feet from the neighbor's house: a recent Google customer said Derek explained a plan to bring it down in controlled sections, and the crew went from the first cut to total debris cleanup in 5 hours. Middlesex Tree is a tree service; a ctinsider.com caption places Middlesex Tree, LLC in Old Saybrook, and the company's website lists a service area that includes Chester, Clinton, Guilford, Haddam, Madison and Westbrook. The company says it has been in business 20 years.

After high wind brought down the crown of a large oak near the road, with part of the tree touching or very close to power lines, a recent customer said they worked into the evening removing three truckloads of chips and heavy tree sections. A recent customer said Derek and his team removed 8 trees and some large fallen limbs and kept them informed before and during the project. One recent customer used the company to remove a 100+-foot-tall tree and later for seasonal pruning of three decorative trees. A recent customer said the crew planted a new tree and helped them understand how to care for it until it was established.

A 2024 customer wrote that six large trees came down, one needing a crane because of its location, and that all the work was completed in one day. A 2025 customer said Derek and his wife Amanda run the business, and that they removed more than 20 trees from a lot in Haddam after showing up on the estimated day and time.

A 2024 customer said an old rotted limb broke during trimming and fell onto the power line, pulling it off the house; Derek called an electrician he works with and it was set to be repaired. A 2022 customer said Amanda was very rude on the phone.

**Strengths:**
- Hazard tree removal — a recent customer said a 90-foot hickory came down in sections
- Downed oak cleanup — a recent customer said they worked into the evening
- Seasonal pruning — a recent customer used them for three decorative trees
- Crane tree removal — a 2024 customer said all the work finished in one day

**Concerns:**
- Limb on power line — a 2024 customer said a rotted limb pulled the line off
- Phone manner — a 2022 customer said Amanda was very rude on the phone
