## The honest read

Mr. Chimney and Hearth Shoppe is based in New Bedford, MA. A 2024 article on southcoasttoday.com describes Mr. Chimney Woodstoves & Fireplaces in New Bedford as family-owned and operated, with a busy season that runs from September through December. Its own website says it offers chimney inspections that identify creosote, blockages and structural issues, with detailed reports and recommended fixes.

A recent Google review covers a stove job from choosing the stove to the final set up and operation lesson. It says installation was prompt, efficient and neat, and that Aidan and his helper cleaned up after their work and left the manual.

In a 2026 review of a gas insert repair, Aiden was called very knowledgeable; they assessed the problem, got the parts needed, cleaned and painted the inside firebox and cleaned up the decorative stone. In another 2026 review, Jordan covered everything and left no trace of ash residue around an all-white wood fireplace, and Ariel is called wonderful at keeping you informed. A 2026 review says Mr. Chimney and his family have serviced a fireplace and pellet stove for quite a few years, and calls them courteous, honest and conscientious about their work.

A 1-star 2026 review describes a Ravelli pellet stove ordered in 2025 with a $6,300 cash deposit. According to that 2026 review, no one came to look at the job before the install date, the custom chimney cap could not be installed due to damaged concrete at the top, and the flue pipe did not fit the stove exhaust pipe without an adapter they did not have on hand. The 2026 review says that after being told the job would be cancelled if not done by Saturday, the father pulled everything off the job; the deposit was returned a week later, and the review compares their $2,000 installation charge with $700 from another installer.

On Google it holds a 4.8-star rating from 222 ratings.

**Strengths:**
- Stove installation — prompt, neat install and operation lesson in a recent review
- Gas insert repair — parts sourced and firebox painted, per a 2026 review
- Clean fireplace work — no trace of ash residue, per a 2026 review

**Concerns:**
- Pellet stove install — pulled off the job unfinished, per a 2026 review
- Installation price — $2,000 versus $700 elsewhere, per a 2026 review
