Last 6 months: 0 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read BuildZoom counts 304 building permits for Neponset Valley Construction, a typical job value near $99,000, and a $444,500 window, siding and trim contract in Hingham in 2024 — this is a Norwood outfit whose scale shows up in the permit files rather than in reviews. The company started in 2001 and incorporated the following year; the BBB lists five employees, an A+ grade, accreditation since 2014, and management by Brian Kearney as president, Mary Kearney as manager and Dominic Gusmini as project manager. What it sells is exterior work: architectural asphalt shingle roofing, cedar siding, decks, patios, windows and additions for both houses and commercial buildings, plus structural reinforcement meant to hold up an older building without changing its character. On Angi and the mirrored HomeAdvisor profile, it shows 4.6 stars from 180 ratings — 74% of them five-star, 1% two-star and 2% one-star — under roofing categories. The written customer accounts on file are older, running 2013 to 2015, and they pull in two directions. A January 2014 reviewer said the materials and workmanship looked right, the crew cleaned up thoroughly, and Brian came by personally to check on progress; an April 2014 deck customer said the company did exactly what it said it would, with the extra charge for the larger size settled up front. The complaints from the same years are specific. In July 2014, a homeowner wrote "DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY" over siding: nails showing on white boards, sloppy workmanship around the front door, gutter guards flying off into the yard. A November 2014 customer said the work seemed professionally done, but it took six weeks after the deposit for work to start, and the company at first refused to clean up the mess left in the attic, saying it was not in the contract. In a November 2015 review, a homeowner who had hired them about three years earlier called the work shoddy, said price was why they chose the company, and suggested it suits exterior jobs better than interior ones. A 2013 reviewer left one star as well. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #148994, is active on the state registry in the corporation's own name. Two things to nail down before signing: who you are actually contracting with, since BuildZoom attributes the company to a Kevin Parkhurst while the BBB profile names Brian Kearney as president; and the parts of the job that caused trouble a decade ago — the start date after the deposit, and exactly what debris removal the contract covers. For roofing, siding and other exterior work on an older house, that is the conversation to have first. **Strengths:** - Deep permit history — 304 building permits, typical job value near $99,000 - Long-established — Norwood corporation working since 2001 - BBB accredited — A+ grade, accredited since 2014 - Active state registration — Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration verified active - Commercial-scale exterior work — a $444,500 window, siding and trim job in 2024 **Concerns:** - Siding workmanship — a 2014 review cites showing nails and sloppy edges - Start delays — one 2014 job began six weeks after the deposit - Cleanup dispute — a 2014 customer was first refused attic debris removal - Interior work — a 2015 reviewer called them better suited to exteriors **Where sources disagree:** - BuildZoom attributes ownership of the company to Kevin Parkhurst, while its BBB profile names Brian Kearney as president. - The 4.6 average from 180 ratings appears on both Angi and HomeAdvisor, which mirror the same profile — it is one set of ratings, not two. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 304 building permits on file, with a typical permit value around $98,915, including a $444,500 window, siding and trim job in Hingham in 2024 and permits in downtown Boston _(confidence: high)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/neponset-valley-construction-corp) — “304 project(s) shown on BuildZoom” - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/neponset-valley-construction-corp) — “The business's own BuildZoom page at 281 Winter Street, Norwood, MA 02062, showing a BuildZoom score of 99 (85th percentile of 139,240 Massa…” - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/neponset-valley-construction-corp) — “BuildZoom shows Neponset Valley Construction Corp of 281 Winter Street, Norwood, MA (owned by Kevin Parkhurst) with a BuildZoom Score of 99 …” - In business since 2001 and incorporated in 2002, a five-employee corporation managed by Brian Kearney (president), Mary Kearney (manager) and Dominic Gusmini (project manager), BBB-accredited since 2014 with an A+ grade _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/norwood/profile/roofing-contractors/neponset-valley-construction-corporation-0021-94412) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/norwood/profile/roofing-contractors/neponset-valley-construction-corporation-0021-94412) — “Better Business Bureau: accredited / certified / member” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/norwood/profile/roofing-contractors/neponset-valley-construction-corporation-0021-94412) — “The business's own BBB profile at 281 Winter Street, Norwood, MA 02062-1324 on (781) 762-1102 — the row's exact phone: BBB ACCREDITED since …” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/norwood/profile/roofing-contractors/neponset-valley-construction-corporation-0021-94412) — “BBB identifies Neponset Valley Construction Corporation in Norwood, Massachusetts as an accredited A+ contractor with 25 years in business a…” - Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #148994 is active on the state registry in the corporation's name _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 148994 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: NEPONSET VALLEY CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION” - 4.6 stars from 180 ratings on Angi and its mirrored HomeAdvisor profile — 74% five-star, 17% four-star, 7% three-star, 1% two-star and 2% one-star _(confidence: high)_ - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/norwood/neponset-valley-construction-reviews-156398731.htm) — “Angi mirrors the HomeAdvisor profile for Neponset Valley Construction of Norwood, MA: 4.6 stars (180 reviews), roofing contractor with 27 ye…” - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/norwood/neponset-valley-construction-reviews-156398731.htm) — “Angi: 4.6★ from 180 ratings” - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/norwood/neponset-valley-construction-reviews-156398731.htm) — “Angi star distribution: 74% 5★ · 17% 4★ · 7% 3★ · 1% 2★ · 2% 1★ (of 180 ratings)” - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.neponsetvalleyconstruction.156398731.html) — “HomeAdvisor: 4.6★ from 180 ratings” - A January 2014 reviewer described thorough cleanup and the owner stopping by to check progress, and an April 2014 deck customer said the job matched what was promised, with the size surcharge agreed beforehand _(confidence: medium)_ - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/norwood/neponset-valley-construction-reviews-156398731.htm) — “5★ They did exactly what they said they'd do. They did work about three years ago. I would tell others that they're more for exterior jobs than they are interior jobs, the work is kind of shoddy.
