**Rating: 3.6/5** (low confidence) — from 3 reviews across 4 sources.

## The honest read

All three of the reviews on Norfolk Iron Works' Google listing are about railings, and all three name Nick. A customer in July 2025 had a custom railing fabricated and installed for their front steps and called the process smooth and the price fair; a February 2025 customer had a railing put in on their steps and recommended the company for railing work; a 2023 customer wrote that the job was finished well before the original estimate.

The shop sits on River Road in Uxbridge and describes itself as a custom metal fabricator — railings, fences, stairs and light structural steel in stainless, aluminum, wrought iron, galvanized and powder-coated metal, for houses and commercial buildings. Its own site claims 35 years in business; the Better Business Bureau file has the company incorporated in 1990, with Nicholas Alexander as its principal, and lists a second location in Hopedale. Boston is the service area the company states.

One practical note before you dial: the Bureau's profile prints (508) 482-9162 while the company's own site gives 508-779-7475.

For an exterior railing or a metal fence built to a drawing, this is a shop that makes the part rather than ordering it in. Ask for an installed price rather than a materials quote, get the metal and the finish written into it, and ask to see a comparable railing they have hung nearby.

**Strengths:**
- Custom railings — all three Google reviews describe railing work
- In-house fabrication — makes railings, fences and stairs in metal
- Long-running shop — incorporated 1990, 35 years self-reported
- Finished early once — a 2023 customer cited an early completion

**Where sources disagree:**
- Two phone numbers: the Better Business Bureau profile prints (508) 482-9162 while the company's own website gives 508-779-7475.
