## The honest read

A 2024 customer said the estimate Alex gave for a roof was the price they paid to the penny. Onyx Home Improvement's website lists roof repair and roof replacement in Meriden, CT, and a stated service area of twelve towns including Wallingford, Middletown, Hamden, Southington and Hartford. It holds 5.0 stars from 40 ratings on Thumbtack, and its BBB grade is A+.

In a 2024 review, a customer said Alex and his crew replaced the roof of their Victorian home, which has complicated angles. That 2024 customer said the job took three days, with them working late the second day so they could finish on the third, which included clean-up. A 2025 customer said Alex arranged the necessary permits and the final inspection by the building inspector for a new roof and new siding on their home and shed, and called the contract clear and straightforward. A 2024 customer said Onyx worked with their insurance company on a roof, and that insurance covered almost the whole cost.

Siding is the other big job. In a 2025 review, a customer said Alex's crew started on the three coldest days of the year, took down the old aluminum siding, put up insulation board and new vinyl siding, and wrapped the trim in aluminum. That 2025 customer said the gutters went up in half a day and that they cleaned up the perimeter of the house at the end of each work day.

Smaller jobs come through too. A recent Thumbtack customer said Alex responded in under an hour, set up an appointment for the next day, and cleaned gutters that had been neglected for a couple seasons, with before and after pictures of the work. A recent Google customer said Onyx painted their garage ceiling, foundation and walls. A recent Google customer said they used Onyx for snow removal all winter and had just finished a new deck with them, on time and at a fair price.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0698468, as active, held by ONYX HOME IMPROVEMENT LLC.
