## The honest read

Orkin's Deep River branch is called for household pests: ants, yellow jackets, fleas, ticks. On Google it holds 4.7 stars from 371 ratings.

One recent customer said they had fought yellow jackets on their own for about a month, called Orkin, and the problem was taken care of that same day. A recent customer with two cats said the fleas exploded after a basement flood; a technician named Chad came a few days later, and after the 4 hours the customer's wife came home to not a single flea. A recent customer said Michael took time to understand concerns about spraying near fruit and vegetable gardens and avoided them during a tick treatment. A recent customer wrote that Brian was prompt and explained what he was doing before he did it.

A recent customer with a beehive in the attic called it in as an emergency and was told no one could come until the next day, then hired another company. A recent customer whose tenants were left waiting said three scheduled appointments were missed without notice and that calls then went unanswered. A recent customer who had asked for a pet-safe ant treatment said the technician left a yellow pesticide sign and did not believe the requested service was provided. A recent customer said spraying for yellow jackets cost over $500, which they felt was too much.

A 2023 customer said Orkin had bought out Guardian Pest Control the year before and described a yellow jacket emergency over a weekend in which no one called back until they reached the office themselves.

Connecticut lists its pesticide applicator licence, PMBR.01565, as active, held by Orkin.

**Strengths:**
- Same-day yellow jacket call — a recent customer said it was handled that day
- A flea treatment — a recent customer's wife came home to no fleas
- Garden-aware spraying — Michael avoided fruit and vegetable gardens, a customer said

**Concerns:**
- Missed appointments — a recent customer said three scheduled visits were missed
- Emergency wait — a recent customer was told no one could come until tomorrow
- Yellow jacket price — a recent customer felt over $500 was too much
