## The honest read

Our House Design & Construction pairs design with the build: a designer lays out the room, and the company carries the renovation through. On its Houzz profile, the company says it is family-owned and run by Rachel and Drew Stietzel, with Rachel as designer and project manager.

A recent Google customer said the company remodeled their kitchen, dining room and hallway on time and within budget, with Ben as the main consultant who kept the crews on schedule. A 2026 customer said they worked with Rachel and Drew on an entire first-floor renovation, that the crew cleaned up the site daily, and that they had hired the company again for a primary bathroom renovation.

A 2019 Houzz customer said a once tiny master bath was turned into a space that feels spacious, with a barn door and a long granite counter with a floating sink. A 2017 customer said the company installed fixtures in a bathroom and bedroom renovation and delivered the project on time and under budget.

A 2017 customer described a full kitchen renovation in a 1920s colonial revival home, with clear drawings, transparent costs and a quick permit process; that customer also said they were not actively notified when the schedule shifted. A 2023 Google customer said the company designed their kitchen and provided 3D renderings. A 2017 customer said three large windows were replaced along with wood damage around the garage doors and front entryway, using composite wood.

A 2026 customer said they called twice about a kitchen and family room project and never got a call from a designer. A 2026 customer said their husband was spoken down to and interrupted when he spoke with the company.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0576078, as active, held by Our House LLC.

**Strengths:**
- An on-time remodel — a recent customer said work finished on time and within budget
- A clean site — a 2026 customer said the crew cleaned up daily
- A master bath remodel — a 2019 customer said a tiny bath now feels spacious

**Concerns:**
- Unreturned calls — a 2026 customer said two calls never got a designer callback
- A rude phone call — a 2026 customer said their husband was spoken down to
- Schedule notices — a 2017 customer was not told when the schedule shifted
