## The honest read

Pelland & Vaughan Home Services is a husband-and-wife operation based in North Reading, run by builder Mark Pelland — who says he's been building since 1986 — and owner Wendy Vaughan, who also runs Stay Beautiful Medspa in Woburn. The company's site says Wendy started the business with her husband after hearing clients complain about unreliable home improvement contractors, and describes itself as family-owned, taking on residential and commercial repair, remodeling, carpentry, and exterior work on the North Shore.

One thing worth confirming before calling: the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, verified against the state registry, shows as expired.

**Concerns:**
- Expired license — MA HIC registration not currently active
