Its website lists Woodbridge, New Haven, Fairfield County, Westport, Greenwich, Milford, Orange and West Haven as its service area. A recent customer had a new roof installed, with shingles, underlayment, replaced sheathing, new drip edges, roof vents and flashing, and also had the gutters, downspouts and gutter guards replaced. A recent customer said that during the tear-off they discovered rotted wood under the old roofing, and the owner picked up multiple replacement sheets and handled it with only a minimal charge. A recent customer said the complete roof took two days, and the solar panels were put back on a few days later because of weather. A recent customer said the work crew got the whole job done in one day and cleaned up leaving no mess. A 2026 customer said Stevenson and his crew completed the entire roof replacement within two days and at the estimated price, and that they have their own equipment, including a dumpster. A 2025 customer said the company took off old cedar shingles, installed house wrap and one-inch insulation panels, and installed the vinyl siding in less than a week. A 2024 customer who hired them for siding fixes said they found a window leaking at the bottom into the siding, pulled out the siding, plywood and insulation below it, replaced them, and charged only a small increase from the original quote. A recent customer who called Stevenson about an inspection for a leaking roof said they were never given a confirmed date or timeframe, and that Stevenson asked how old they were; the customer said Stephen later called to discuss it and they raised their rating from one star to two. A recent reviewer said the company installed a new roof on their property in 2017, that roofing issues later let rainwater into the building and caused interior water damage, and that the contractor denied responsibility and offered repairs only at his current market rate. A 2023 customer said their roof job took about two weeks, some gutters promised were not replaced, and a hole caused while stripping the roof was never repaired. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0625703, as active, held by Preference Construction LLC. **Strengths:** - Rotted wood handled — a recent customer said the owner picked up replacement sheets - Roof and gutter package — a recent customer got a new roof plus gutters - One-day roof job — a recent customer said the whole job took one day - A siding leak found — a 2024 customer said a leaking window was found **Concerns:** - Leak inspection scheduling — a recent customer never got a confirmed inspection time - A disputed 2017 roof — a recent reviewer said responsibility for damage was denied - Unrepaired roof hole — a 2023 customer said it was never fixed ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 4.9-star Google rating across 129 ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Preference%20Construction%2C%20Roofing%20and%20Home%20Improvement&query_place_id=ChIJu96ONE_Z54kRdZZs_my9bgA) — “Google: 4.9★ from 129 ratings” - A recent customer had a new roof plus gutters, downspouts and gutter guards installed _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2tSSGJXWldha0pTUjBKaWVWcGxUSFpzV0hVMVQzYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x6ebd6cfe6c9675!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkRHbWZWakJSR0JieVplTHZsWHU1T3c%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Preference came out and installed our new roof (shingles, underlayment, replaced sheathing, new drip edges, roof vents, flashing, etc.), …” - A recent customer said rotted wood found during tear-off was handled with only a minimal charge _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT210Sk9GbEdXQzFIZUZseFRqZDFSV2wzUmpkU1dHYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x6ebd6cfe6c9675!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOmtJOFlGWC1HeFlxTjd1RWl3RjdSWGc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ I had a truly fantastic experience from start to finish with this roofing installation.
