## The honest read

Sebastian priced one Boston house off photos and measurements the owner emailed him, then held that price when the job kept growing; the January 2024 customer who wrote it up said everything they added got done without question. In April 2024 another client got the paperwork and a written scope before anyone started, with Sheldon walking through the expectations on day one. In June 2024 a homeowner had the exterior stained and painted to a written description, finished in the time promised.

R and B Painting and Remodeling is a family business whose members reviewers name: Sebastian, his father, Sheldon and Robert. It works Boston and Hyde Park and says it has served the area for more than 30 years. Painting is the centre of the work, inside and out, plus staining, cabinets, decks and porches, and remodeling in bathrooms, kitchens and basements.

Across 45 Google ratings averaging 4.9, the same things come back: on time, clean, finished when promised. A March 2024 customer nervous about white cabinet paint over dark hardwood floors said the prep and cleanup left not one speck of paint on them. In June 2024 a family had what they called a glorified crawl space turned into a finished family room, inside budget. An April 2025 customer whose 50-year-old house had been stained and painted several times before said it had never looked this good. A March 2023 reviewer, on their second job with the company, said both finished ahead of schedule.

The exception is worth hearing about. In December 2023 a customer wrote that Sheldon came out, looked at the job and gave a fair estimate, and then the company stopped answering; they called it ghosting, and it is the one one-star account among the reviews.

For interior or exterior painting, cabinets, a deck, or turning a basement into a room around Boston, this is a strong call, particularly if you want the scope on paper before work starts. Get the estimate in writing with a start date, and chase it promptly if the reply goes quiet.
