--- title: "Raf's Construction Company, Inc" description: "Raf's Construction Company is a one-person general contracting outfit in Woburn, run by Rafael Nepomuceno, working additions and remodels across towns nort" doc_version: "2026-08-19" last_updated: "2026-08-19" --- # Raf's Construction Company, Inc **Trade:** General Contractor / Remodeling · **Address:** 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA · **Phone:** (617) 307-8307 · **Languages:** English **Rating: 3.2/5** (low confidence) — from 1 reviews across 2 sources. ## The honest read Raf's Construction Company is a one-person general contracting outfit in Woburn, run by Rafael Nepomuceno, working additions and remodels across towns north and west of Boston rather than one narrow specialty. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and permit records show eight residential jobs since 2019 — a second-floor bedroom addition, a master-bathroom remodel, and new-construction work spread from Marblehead to Somerville and Lowell. A single Thumbtack review from 2025 calls the company "the best contract I work so far," backed by a matching background check on Rafael Nepomuceno on the same platform. Two things worth asking about before booking: permit records show a 2024 second-floor addition in Marblehead currently listed as suspended, and a 2021 Somerville permit application was rejected for not supplying requested paperwork — worth a direct conversation about what happened with both. The company's Thumbtack profile also claims 25 years in business, longer than the roughly seven years its permit history documents, so it's worth asking him about his background before founding it. For an addition or bathroom remodel in the Woburn area, the license is active and a couple of completed jobs check out on paper — go in asking about the stalled Marblehead job and the tenure claim. **Strengths:** - Active MA licence — home improvement registration verified - 2025 review — customer called it highly recommendable **Concerns:** - Permit history — one project suspended, one rejected for paperwork **Where sources disagree:** - Thumbtack lists the owner's tenure as 25 years in business, while BuildZoom's permit history for the company only extends back to 2019 (about seven years). ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #190086 is active _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 190086 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: RAF'S CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC.” - Performed a master-bathroom remodel project, per a 2023 Auburndale Rd (Marblehead) permit _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/rafs-construction-company-inc) — “BuildZoom profile for Raf's Construction Company, Inc at 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, phone (617) 307-8307, owner Rafael Nepomuceno, up…” - Performs second-floor bedroom addition projects, per a 2024 Overlook Rd (Marblehead) permit _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/rafs-construction-company-inc) — “BuildZoom profile for Raf's Construction Company, Inc at 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, phone (617) 307-8307, owner Rafael Nepomuceno, up…” - Called highly recommendable in a 2025 Thumbtack review _(confidence: low)_ - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/woburn/general-contractors/rafs-construction-company-inc/service/547440754062680077) — “5★ Best contract I work so far very recommend” - Permit records show a 2024 Marblehead addition listed as suspended and a 2021 Somerville permit rejected for not supplying requested paperwork _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/rafs-construction-company-inc) — “BuildZoom profile for Raf's Construction Company, Inc at 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, phone (617) 307-8307, owner Rafael Nepomuceno, up…” - Read set slightly below the anchor: permit records show a suspended 2024 project and a rejected 2021 permit application, a track-record detail the comment pool can't see _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/rafs-construction-company-inc) — “BuildZoom profile for Raf's Construction Company, Inc at 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, phone (617) 307-8307, owner Rafael Nepomuceno, up…” - Specializes in General Contractor / Remodeling _(confidence: high)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/rafs-construction-company-inc) — “BuildZoom profile for Raf's Construction Company, Inc at 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, phone (617) 307-8307, owner Rafael Nepomuceno, up…” - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/woburn/general-contractors/rafs-construction-company-inc/service/547440754062680077) — “Services offered (Thumbtack): General Contracting, Home Modification for Accessibility, Construction Services, Home Remodeling, Bathroom Rem…” - Also offers Bathroom Remodel _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/rafs-construction-company-inc) — “BuildZoom profile for Raf's Construction Company, Inc at 5 Brookland Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, phone (617) 307-8307, owner Rafael Nepomuceno, up…” ## License Status: **active** (#190086, hic) — verified against the official MA state registry on 2026-07-31, never self-reported.
