Dan Burke Jr. is the one up on the roof. Customers who hired Ralph J Burke Roofing name him — or his father, Dan Sr. — in nearly every account, and a 2024 reviewer noted that Dan Jr. is the working foreman on every job. The company runs out of Wakefield, says it has been roofing since 1928 across three generations of the family, and covers the North Shore and Greater Boston with hand-nailed roofing, rubber roofing, seamless aluminum gutters, skylights and repairs.

Full roof replacements are most of what people describe. This April a homeowner who had been unhappy with another company's roof 25 years earlier said they had always remembered Burke as the company they should have hired, and finally did, for a complete replacement. In November 2025 a customer had the roof plus gutters and downspouts done with both Dan Sr. and Dan Jr. answering questions through the job. A 2024 customer who had once roofed his own house watched the crew hand-nail the entire roof and said it makes for a stronger, more durable result; another that year was offered the option of replacing nearly 40-year-old gutters and fascia along with the re-roof and found Dan quick to answer by text.

Smaller jobs appear too — a porch roof in July 2025, a garage roof with a few extras added on request in November 2024 — and a 2023 job at a Reading home and business was an EPDM rubber roof with new gutters, planned so the business could keep running.

A Reddit commenter in the Medford subreddit wrote in 2024 that they used Ralph Burke around 2018 and were happy with the workmanship and the price, recalling a midrange quote against two others.

Two things are worth confirming. Sources disagree about the company's age: the website's "Tradition of Excellence Since 1928" against a Better Business Bureau profile that records a sole proprietorship started in 1989. And BuildZoom, which lists 200 permitted projects for the company, scores it zero because it could not verify an active licence, noting a Newton roofer licence (#99814) that expired in 2017.
