Last 6 months: 22 reviews, 1 negative. ## The honest read In an April 2026 Google review, a homeowner in West Hartford described a late-1920s house with layers of peeling paint, wood rot and a front porch balcony with substantial dry rot; Rest Tech's carpenters rebuilt the balcony supports and fascia, the painters spent three-plus weeks on the house and garage, and owner Rich DeSena sent photos while the customer was on vacation. The Branford, CT painter has 4.8 stars from 85 Google ratings and says it has been in business 27 years. In an August 2026 HomeAdvisor review, a customer said the crew scraped old paint, replaced worn cedar shakes, fixed a handrail and reframed a basement window, then came back to unstick 100-year-old windows. A June 2025 reviewer described broken clapboards replaced, porch flooring rebuilt and a doorway resized on a small Victorian painted in a polychrome scheme. An August 2026 customer said the crew painted a complex Queen Anne Victorian, and another that month said Rich inspected the house the day they called and had a team there the following Monday after their insurer required a repaint. Inside, an August 2026 review describes a 6000 sq ft Westport interior with everything covered to keep it clean. In an August 2023 1-star review, a customer said they received no detailed signed contract or 3-day rescission clause, that downspouts were taken down before a heavy July 16 rain, that the crew painted in humid or wet weather, and that the company pushed flat paint and Sherwin Williams over the satin finish and Benjamin Moore they asked for. An April 2024 1-star review calls it a "Terrible paint job." In an October 2026 1-star review, a caller said the person who answered told them staining their fence was not a job for the company and to hire a handyman. HomeAdvisor shows 5.0 stars from 13 ratings. The company's Connecticut home improvement registration, HIC.0657858, is active. Its site says it is insured and offers free estimates. **Strengths:** - Old-house carpentry — reviews describe rot, shakes and porch rebuilds - Fast start — a 2026 review says inspected same day, crew Monday - Photo updates — 2025 and 2026 reviews describe progress photos **Concerns:** - Contract and weather — a 2023 review cites no signed contract, wet painting - Poor finish — an April 2024 review calls it a terrible paint job - Phone brush-off — 2026 caller says fence staining was turned away ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Connecticut home improvement registration HIC.0657858 is active, held by Rest Tech LLC _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx) — “CT hic license HIC.0657858 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: REST TECH LLC” - An April 2026 review describes a 1920s house with dry-rot balcony reconstruction, carpentry and full repaint _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2t3MVNXMXJhek5zY2poR1IzazFiRjluYVdOUmVrRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x79c7d09e437d9438!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkw1SW1razNscjhGR3k1bF9naWNRekE%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ I had my Late 1920's home in West Hartford Painted by Rich Desena and his team last summer and I am very satisfied.
