## The honest read

On its Angi profile, Robert Baum says he established Robert's New England General Painting Contractors in 1970 and that it has provided painting services to Fairfield and New Haven Counties. It holds 4.5 stars from 122 ratings on Angi.

A 2019 customer who had hired Robert twice said you could not tell where the popcorn ceiling was repaired. A 2018 customer said Robert Baum came to deal with a section of ceiling badly damaged by an overflowing A/C pan, in a house built in 1956 with decorative swirls to match. In that 2018 review, the room was turned into a cocoon of plastic sheeting while most furniture, paintings and carpets stayed in place, and the ceiling looked like new afterward. A 2018 customer said Bob repaired two holes in a living room ceiling, matched the existing texture and painted the ceilings in three rooms.

A 2018 customer said Robert started and finished on the dates written in the contract; after warning that a few spots might need more paint, he came right away when called and fixed them. A 2017 customer paid $1,900 for interior painting of five or more rooms and said Bob waited through construction delays spanning four months. A 2016 customer said Bob and his entire team came back and spent the day touching up small areas after the work was complete.

A 2019 customer had a rougher job: the contract had things written down wrong, paint was tracked onto hardwood floors and carpets, paint got on the cabinets, and three huge bags of trash were left behind. That 2019 customer was happy with the garage but said the kitchen looked sloppy. A 2019 customer said a very visible crack was left in a hallway after a promise to repair all the cracks. A 2019 customer said the wall preparation was not done well at first and took several cycles of repairs, though the painting came out good in the end.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0559778, held by Robert's New England Company LLC, as expired.
