The company says it has been in business 39 years, and its website names a service area that includes Ansonia, Branford, Hamden, Milford and New Haven. A 2024 customer said Sandweiss removed a 150ft+ maple tree and that the crew, led by Ossy, left the site with no damage, using machines and special plastic panels that protect the lawn. A 2024 customer said the crew used an "Easy Lift" to reach the taller parts of a river birch they trimmed and left the area spotless. A 2024 customer said two workers took down a diseased arborvitae and accommodated which pieces of the trunk the customer wanted to save. A 2023 customer described a pruning job that took almost two days, with a three-man crew picking up the debris as each tree was pruned. A 2023 customer who said they had used the company for almost 20 years wrote that Al never tried to persuade them to have work done that would not benefit the trees and shrubs. A 2025 customer described slow, frustrating communication and poorly managed schedules over about a year and a half. That 2025 customer said part of an adjacent hedge was taken down to reach a large tree, that the company verbally promised to replace the shrub, and that it still had not been replaced after 9 months. **Strengths:** - Large tree removal — a 2024 customer described a 150ft+ maple taken down - A protected lawn — a 2024 customer said plastic panels protected the lawn - A knowledgeable arborist — a 2026 customer called Al knowledgeable - Debris cleanup — a 2023 customer said debris was picked up tree by tree **Concerns:** - A promised shrub — a 2025 customer said it was not replaced after 9 months - Slow scheduling — a 2025 customer called communication slow and frustrating ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 4.7-star Google average from 26 ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Sandweiss%20Tree%20Service%2C%20Inc.&query_place_id=ChIJN-8qOJTa54kRwPv2WPNtI8A) — “Google: 4.7★ from 26 ratings” - Says it has been in business 39 years _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://sandweisstrees.com) — “Self-reported 39 years in business” - Its website lists a service area including Ansonia, Branford, Hamden, Milford and New Haven _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://sandweisstrees.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Merid…” - A 2026 customer said the company pruned an 80+ foot tree in a difficult yard area _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT21SSU9HeG5ZMU5LUkdSME9FdFliR0U0WmkxaWRYYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xc0236df358f6fbc0!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOmRIOGxnY1NKRGR0OEtYbGE4Zi1idXc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Sandweiss were great to use for the tree pruning we needed.
