Shepard's Moving and Storage describes itself as a full-service moving and storage company handling household and office moves, storage and warehousing, and says it has been in business for 76 years. Its website lists a service area that includes Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Ridgefield and Fairfield, and its BBB page shows an A+ grade and accreditation. A recent customer used the company for storage and international shipment of antiques, rugs and paintings, and said it was clear on costs and timings and helpful with the customs process. A recent customer said the company packed up their house and moved most of their furniture and belongings into storage, taking care in packing every item. A recent reviewer who coordinates moves regularly said the crew was flexible when plans shifted and called the pricing very competitive. A 2026 customer said the company packed and moved their late father's home in Gouverneur, NY, in difficult weather. A 2025 customer said they had used the warehouse for three years through five move and storage iterations, and that the estimates were fair, transparent and always close. A 2025 customer said the movers disassembled and reassembled items and moved everything out and back in without damage to the furniture or the home. A 2024 customer said the company handled their full-house move from CT to MA, including a grand piano, with nothing missing or broken. A 2024 customer said the movers packed a two-bedroom condo in 2.5 hours ahead of a 3.5-hour drive to another state, and added no extra costs since they stayed within the quote. In a 2024 review, a customer said a large crystal chandelier could not be reassembled the same day, and the company arranged it a few days later. A 2024 customer reported two pieces of furniture broken and furniture covered with moths, moth eggs and worms, and described a very rude response when they reported the problems. A 2022 customer said the movers broke the shut-off to a washer and flooded the home, that the inventory list was badly done and items arrived broken, and that the claims department gave no resolution. A 2024 customer complained that calls reach only an answering machine. **Strengths:** - Owner on site — a recent customer said the owner visited to rearrange the move - Careful packing — a recent customer said they took care packing every item - Antique shipping — a recent customer said they helped with the customs process - A grand piano move — a 2024 customer said nothing was missing or broken - A quote held — a 2024 customer said no extra costs were added **Concerns:** - Broken furniture — a 2024 customer reported two pieces broken and moths - A flooded home — a 2022 customer said movers broke a washer shut-off - An unresolved claim — a 2022 customer said claims gave no resolution - Phone answering — a 2024 customer said calls reach an answering machine ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - A recent customer said the owner personally visited to make arrangements when the truck was too small for some furniture _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT204d1pYUkJOMEpyUVMxU05WUkdkSHBHY0VJelNHYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x9c14f89d5c92a162!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOm8wZXRBN0JrQS1SNVRGdHpGcEIzSGc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Ownership is very thoughtful, invested in providing stellar customer service.
