## The honest read

One recent customer hired SHN Designs for a 3-unit house elevation: new floor joists, subfloors, complete interior remodels, and exterior work including stairs, decks, windows, siding and a new roof. That customer said the company handled permitting, engineering, site work, the actual lift, architectural designs and the final renovations.

The company's website says Mike and Sivan have been providing design, renovation and construction services together for over 20 years. On Google, SHN Designs holds 5 stars from 33 ratings.

A customer with a marsh-side house to elevate says they contacted 3 other contractors before speaking with Sivan and Mike, who met with them several times to answer their questions. A rental owner says SHN Designs came out to do the work needed to pass a city ordinance for short-term rentals, and has since hired them multiple times for repairs. A customer who had a new deck built says the owner, Mike, did the installation and is there every day and on time.

A 2023 reviewer who described themselves as a Realtor said they engaged SHN to remodel several bathrooms in a client's 1875 home, and that Mike was on time and thorough. A 2023 customer said that after Mike and Sivan did their laundry room, they moved on to the next bathroom, taking it down to the studs and coming up with a custom counter top. A 2023 customer said Mike, Sivan and their team remodeled their kitchen, bathroom and dining room, and that the job finished right on time for the quoted price.

A 2025 customer said construction on their unfinished 1,000 square foot basement began within 4 weeks of signing the contract and the space was finished 8 weeks later, with a utility room, a work office, a full bathroom, storage and a lounge area. That 2025 customer said Sivan sent an itemized price quote within a matter of days. A 2023 customer said Mike arranged the HVAC, plumber, electrician, plaster work and inspections for their basement, and did the framing and finish work himself.

A 2025 customer said Mike replaced their back deck and the project was completed within a week. A 2025 customer who hired them for exterior painting and trim replacement said they worked long hours to get the work done before unfavorable weather arrived.

**Strengths:**
- A house elevation — a recent customer said permitting through the lift was handled
- Basement finishing — a 2025 customer said the space was finished 8 weeks later
- A gutted bathroom — a 2023 customer said it was taken to the studs
- A new deck — a recent customer says Mike is there every day, on time
