The company describes itself as family-owned and says it has been in business for 65 years. A recent Google customer had a split-system air conditioner fully removed and replaced at a higher capacity, with the new air handler set in the same attic spot, no dirt or scrapes on the walls, and the piping, duct and electrical work done as Walter had explained it. That customer added that the company services their boiler too. A 2026 customer, told by another local company that they needed a new furnace, said Sound Energy took the time to diagnose the situation and found no major issue. A 2022 customer said the company helped on a weekend when their condenser failed and had the problem fixed in no time. A 2025 r/StamfordCT commenter said they had been with Sound Energy for a long time and were very happy with the service. A 2025 commenter in r/StamfordCT called it a small local company and praised its HVAC techs. A 2021 customer left a one-star Google review calling the company rude and condescending, and said a different company later found over 3 feet of compacted soot and debris in the furnace chimney and flame settings that were incorrect. **Strengths:** - A clean AC replacement — a recent customer saw no dirt or scrapes on the walls - An honest furnace diagnosis — a 2026 customer was told no new furnace was needed - Weekend condenser repair — a 2022 customer said it was fixed in no time **Concerns:** - A chimney soot complaint — a 2021 customer said another company found 3 feet of soot ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Its BBB profile describes fuel oil, heating and air conditioning sales and service _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/darien/profile/heating-and-air-conditioning/sound-energy-corporation-0111-45000777) — “About (Better Business Bureau, self-described): This company offers fuel oil, heating and air conditioning sales and service.” - Holds an A+ grade from the BBB _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/darien/profile/heating-and-air-conditioning/sound-energy-corporation-0111-45000777) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - Describes itself as family-owned and says it has been in business 65 years _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](http://soundenergycorp.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): Sound Energy is a family-owned and -operated business that’s dedicated to helping you take care of your own…” - [Official Website](http://soundenergycorp.com) — “Self-reported 65 years in business” - A recent customer described a full split-system AC replacement with no dirt or scrapes left on the walls _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT25Nd1pqZzBYMGRTZGpFeE4ySTNRblV5VDNBeVpYYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x6d444f0ac15a0260!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOnMwZjg0X0dSdjExN2I3QnUyT3AyZXc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Team came in to fully remove and replace our split system AC.
