A recent customer described a condo building that first engaged the company to help develop a plan for installing mini-split heat pumps in its different styles of condos; the association later accepted the plan and incorporated it into its rules. That customer's unit was the first to complete an install. There had been concerns about the electrical panel's capacity and about snaking a new wire to the compressor, and the customer said the compressor, three interior heads and the wiring were installed in one day with no mess. The same customer said the electricians made a few small holes for the wiring and explained what they were doing at each step, that the installation team of 3 explained the system, how to use it and how to maintain it at the end, and that next-day questions were followed up promptly. The company says it tunes up, cleans and repairs every major brand, no matter who installed them, and lists a service area that includes Gorham, Portland, Westbrook, Scarborough and Brunswick. A recent customer who had put off annual service said the company explained what the service included and what it cost when they called, serviced the system even though it had not done the installation, and did not try to upsell. That customer called the pricing very fair. A recent customer said Nate did a nice, professional job cleaning and servicing their heat pump. A recent customer who needed 2 pumps and 4 heads installed said the company was able to start 2 months quicker than anyone else they called. A 2026 customer with two units said the technicians who came out to service them were thorough and helpful. In r/heatpumps, a Reddit commenter called the company a solid group with good pricing, 15-20% cheaper than a quote from ReVision Energy. On Google it holds 5 stars from 38 ratings. **Strengths:** - A one-day install — compressor, three heads and wiring done in one day, no mess - Condo install planning — a recent customer said they helped plan a building's mini-splits - Servicing other installs — a recent customer said they serviced a system they hadn't installed - No upselling — a recent customer said they didn't push unnecessary services - A quick start — a recent customer said they could start 2 months quicker - A thorough service visit — a 2026 customer called the technicians thorough and helpful ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Installed a compressor, three interior heads and the wiring for a condo unit in one day, with no mess _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2tKRFprVlljMlIzZWtSeE5URlhTMEUwTlc1NWNWRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x4fd7676dbc088f9f!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkJDZkVYc2R3ekRxNTFXS0E0NW55cVE%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ Southern Maine Heat Pump is an outstanding company.
