Last 6 months: 3 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read Star Masonry is a Waterbury patio, wall and walkway mason run by Neil, whose site says he has been at it since 2015. Google shows 5★ from 13 ratings; Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 4.4★ from 19 ratings, and Thumbtack 4.2★ from 18 ratings. The 2026 reviews are about finished work. An August 2026 customer said Neil helped choose the design and material to rehabilitate a patio and garden walkway, rebuild walls and protect a new driveway, worked alongside his team, left the adjoining garden undisturbed, and came back after completion to check the job. In an April 2026 review, a patio customer said the crew cleaned the site at the end of each day for their dogs' safety. A July 2025 customer said Star had now done its third project at their home in four years, this one a patio, walkways, a front porch and stairs, and a 2025 Angi customer described retaining walls, steps, a patio, countertops and a pizza oven. The complaints are about showing up. Four reviews from 2023 to 2025 describe missed appointments: a 2025 customer said Neil told them he was coming and did not show, many times, and that punch list work went unanswered; a 2023 Angi customer said they were stood up 5 times and the company did not respond to Angi's requests to arbitrate their dispute. In a 2022 Angi review, a customer said the joints Star redid on their front walkway turned brittle and fell out within weeks, leaving the stones loose. A 2024 Thumbtack reviewer objected to a 2k quote for a job others priced at 250 dollars. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration is active with the state registry. **Strengths:** - Repeat customers — 2025 reviewer on a third project in four years - Hands-on owner — August 2026 customer said Neil worked alongside the crew **Concerns:** - Missed appointments — 2023 to 2025 reviews describe no-shows - Walkway joints failed — 2022 repair turned brittle within weeks ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Connecticut home improvement contractor registration HIC.0661475 is active, held by Star Masonry LLC _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx) — “CT hic license HIC.0661475 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: STAR MASONRY LLC” - Google 5 stars from 13 ratings; Angi and HomeAdvisor 4.4 from 19 ratings; Thumbtack 4.2 from 18 ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=STAR%20MASONRY%20LLC&query_place_id=ChIJY8zWC-TB54kRCYW07zADxkk) — “Google: 5★ from 13 ratings” - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ct/waterbury/masonry-contractors/star-masonry-llc/service/478707821230858247?spotlightWebMarkupEnabled=1) — “Thumbtack: 4.2★ from 18 ratings” - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ct/waterbury/star-masonry-llc-reviews-1.htm) — “Angi: 4.4★ from 19 ratings” - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.STARMASONRYLLC.112385122.html) — “HomeAdvisor: 4.4★ from 19 ratings” - An August 2026 customer had a patio, garden walkway, walls and driveway done, with Neil working alongside the crew and returning to check the job _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT25oTGVXSXdYMWsyUmpCVlQwZGtjRE15WW5FeFgwRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x49c60330efb48509!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOnhLeWIwX1k2RjBVT0dkcDMyYnExX0E%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Recommend with no reservations.
