Last 6 months: 0 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read Strohmaier Builders is a Connecticut builder that takes on new homes, additions and remodels, and customers deal with Tom. Its directory profiles say it has more than 20 years of experience. It holds an active Connecticut home improvement registration, HIC.0600612, in the name Strohmaier Builders LLC. BuildZoom also lists new home contractor number NHC.0014934. Google shows 3.8 stars from 4 ratings and Houzz 3.7 from 3, and the Better Business Bureau grades it A+. In a March 2025 Google review, a family who built a new home said Tom was the only builder they found in their price range for what they wanted; they mentioned some bumps and wished the subcontractors had done better, but said they are proud of the home. Two 2020 Houzz reviewers were enthusiastic: one had handmade built-in cabinets, banquette seating, a kitchen remodel and basement work done, and the other had a 1950s ranch remodeled under budget and on time, with custom built-ins and molding. The complaints are blunt. A 2023 reviewer called the company unorganized and said it does not return calls, and in a 2018 Houzz review, a customer said the job was never completed because of quality issues, delays and subcontractor problems. An Angi review from 2012 praised the workmanship but said scheduling was sometimes a problem. **Strengths:** - Built-ins and molding — 2020 reviewers praised custom carpentry - Price range — a 2025 client found it fit their budget **Concerns:** - Unfinished job — 2018 reviewer says work stopped over quality issues - Communication — 2023 reviewer says calls went unreturned - Subcontractors — 2025 reviewer wished they had done better ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Active Connecticut home improvement registration HIC.0600612, held by Strohmaier Builders LLC _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx) — “CT hic license HIC.0600612 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: STROHMAIER BUILDERS LLC” - BuildZoom lists new home contractor number NHC.0014934 _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/strohmaier-builders-llc) — “Licence listed on BuildZoom: NHC.0014934 (New Home Contractor, Connecticut; BuildZoom lists it Active, issued 04-01-2026 — BuildZoom verifie…” - Says it has more than 20 years of experience _(confidence: medium)_ - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ct/new-haven/strohmaier-builders-llc-reviews-66798853.htm) — “About (Angi, self-described): Nothing improves the value of your home more than professional updates.
