The company says it has been in business for 88 years, and its stated service area includes New Haven, Hamden, Cheshire, Naugatuck, Shelton and West Haven. It holds a 4.7-star average from 53 Google ratings and an A+ grade from the BBB. A recent customer carpeting a new home thanked Kristen and Brad for their responsiveness and care throughout the process. A recent customer replacing a damaged carpet section said an $800 estimate became a quote for a $3,000 Masland carpet that, once installed, came out two sample-swatches lighter than the swatch they ordered from and shows footprints when walked on. The manufacturer denied a color variance claim, and that customer said none of these complications were explained in advance, though they praised the installation. A 2026 customer said the floor came out well but objected to comments from a talkative installer who was dismissive of the sales staff's efforts. A 2024 customer having a kitchen remodeled said they were never pressured for a decision while borrowing samples. That 2024 customer said the flooring install was done in one day and the installers cleaned everything up behind them. A 2023 customer had 40-year-old hardwood floors and stairs sanded and refinished. In that 2023 review, Brendan Breen met them at home after work to give an estimate, and when there was a slight mismatch between the work and their expectations, he came out on a Sunday to meet them. The same 2023 customer said the price quoted was on the mid to high tier. A 2023 customer said the lady they dealt with was rude and hung up on them, while praising Rick. A 2022 customer said the company was no more expensive than the two big box stores. A 2022 carpet customer praised the installer's seaming but noted a slight shadow from the glue. **Strengths:** - Hardwood refinishing — a 2023 customer had 40-year-old floors sanded and refinished - A one-day install — a 2024 customer said the flooring was done in one day - A clean job site — a 2024 customer said installers cleaned up behind them - Carpet seaming — a 2022 customer praised the installer's seaming **Concerns:** - Carpet color match — a recent customer said installed carpet came out lighter than the swatch - A growing estimate — a recent customer's $800 estimate became a $3,000 quote - Installer conduct — a 2026 customer objected to a talkative installer's comments - Phone manner — a 2023 customer said the lady they dealt with hung up ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Describes itself as selling and installing carpet, wood, vinyl and ceramic flooring and refinishing hardwood _(confidence: medium)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/hamden/profile/new-carpet/sullivan-son-carpet-inc-0111-5001365) — “About (Better Business Bureau, self-described): Sullivan & Son Carpet, Inc. sells and installs all types of flooring from carpet to wood to …” - Says it has been in business for 88 years _(confidence: low)_ - [Official Website](https://www.sullivanandsoncarpet.com) — “Self-reported 88 years in business” - Stated service area includes New Haven, Hamden, Cheshire, Naugatuck, Shelton and West Haven _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.sullivanandsoncarpet.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): New Haven, Hamden, Sullivan, Cheshire, Prospect, Naugatuck, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Seymour, Ansonia, Sh…” - 4.7 stars from 53 Google ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Sullivan%20%26%20Son%20Carpet%20Inc&query_place_id=ChIJIWiUImLa54kRPf6Av7UTbJ4) — “Google: 4.7★ from 53 ratings” - A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/hamden/profile/new-carpet/sullivan-son-carpet-inc-0111-5001365) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - A recent customer thanked Kristen and Brad for their responsiveness while carpeting a new home _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT20xdFEyWm1hbmsxZHpka2NsWTFhMlp0ZFhwU1kyYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x9e6c13b5bf80fe3d!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOm1tQ2Zmank1dzdkclY1a2ZtdXpSY2c%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ We are so grateful for responsiveness, and care, and professional Kristen & Brad showed throughout the entire process of carpeting our ne…” - A recent customer said an $800 estimate became a $3,000 carpet that came out lighter than the swatch and shows footprints _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2twVE9YaFBPWFZrY0VkUlluVjFUM2ROWTNKRFNVRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x9e6c13b5bf80fe3d!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkpTOXhPOXVkcEdRYnV1T3dNY3JDSUE%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “2★ Based on web reviews, we trusted Sullivan & Son to guide us in replacing a damaged carpet section to match the existing carpet.
