A March 2026 customer had quartz kitchen counters in less than two weeks from first walking into the store; an October 2026 customer who came in frustrated by a different shop says it was three weeks from the first meeting to installation. Surface Creations works out of a warehouse and showroom on Rice Street in Portland, Maine, where customers walk the slabs and pick the piece they want. It fabricates and installs stone countertops — quartz, granite, quartzite — for kitchens and baths, and holds 4.4 stars from 81 Google ratings. In a March 2026 review, a general contractor who has been designing and installing kitchens for 25 years names the owner as Jill and calls Jen an incredible project manager. In a September 2026 review, installer Justin noticed an uneven polish on one countertop and Tollison and Raymond came back to fix it. In a July 2026 review, Tolly, the templater, spotted a small fabrication error while installing a backsplash, remeasured, and the corrected backsplash went in three days later. An April 2026 customer says Jennifer Cruz kept searching until she found quartzite slabs for a primary bath, and a December 2025 customer had a quartz top cut for a custom island with non-typical geometry. In a June 2026 2-star review, a couple who walked in waited 18 minutes, were promised a quote by June 9, and say they never got a call or email about it. In a June 2025 1-star review, a customer says a granite piece was cut too short, the recut took a month, and the installers cracked the top of their new range putting in the backsplash; seven weeks later they were still waiting to be reimbursed. A May 2025 customer says the counters were installed backwards with logos and QR codes showing and the company would not make it right. A January 2025 customer reports a scratched sink and refrigerator, a crooked faucet hole and uneven island overhang, and says the company gave a $500 credit and came back to try to fix the sink scratches and the island. In an August 2024 review, a Lowe's customer describes no-shows, counters put on the wrong truck, a damaged large piece, a redelivered piece that did not meet spec, a Friday evening delivery that never came, and a fourth delivery the following Monday that was not the section of the slab they had selected for the island. In an October 2022 1-star review, a customer says the company asked for $500 because it had to park its truck on the street, and in a June 2023 1-star review, a reviewer says their sister's island was broken at the shop and the replacement took almost a month. **Strengths:** - Fast turnaround — 2026 customers went from selection to install in weeks - Slab selection — customers walk the warehouse and pick their piece - Errors caught on site — 2026 installers flagged polish and fabrication flaws **Concerns:** - Installation damage — 2025 customers report a cracked range top and scratches - Delivery mix-ups — 2024 customer describes no-shows and four deliveries - Unanswered quote — June 2026 walk-in never received promised quote ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 4.4 stars from 81 Google ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Surface%20Creations%20Of%20Maine&query_place_id=ChIJQ2mX49uaskwR0awl_-HUrb0) — “Google: 4.4★ from 81 ratings” - Fabricates and installs quartz, granite and quartzite countertops for kitchens and baths _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT20wd2J6aHJUWFJYTW0xTWJYWlhXa1EwY1U1algzYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xbdadd4e1ff25acd1!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOm0wbzhrTXRXMm1MbXZXWkQ0cU5jX3c%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ The templater, Tolly, at Surface Creations was very professional and went above and beyond to insure that my bathroom countertops were ma…” - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2trNWRHNDFTbkZvTVhkWmVIUmFVemRqVURKcFYwRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xbdadd4e1ff25acd1!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkk5dG41SnFoMXdZeHRaUzdjUDJpV0E%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Surface Creations and Jennifer Cruz did a phenomenal job with my bath countertops!
