## The honest read

Talbert Outdoor Maintenance is a Hinesburg site-work business that describes itself on Angi as owned by Mark Talbert and specializing in excavation, grading, resloping and land clearing. Its website says it takes on landscaping, construction and maintenance projects for Vermont properties.

Driveways and drainage carry most of the recent work. One recent customer hired the company for a driveway project that included removing and regrading a retaining wall, repairing some erosion and installing a new drain in front of the garage, and said communication was easy and clear. A customer who hired Greg to rebuild, grade and do drainage work on a driveway said it drains and was crowned perfectly. A recent customer said Mark and Greg have helped them get through several rainy summers with a steep gravel driveway and are fast to respond after a storm.

The work goes past driveways too. Mark and Greg did a French drain around one recent customer's barn and site prep for a sauna that included grading, gravel and running conduit for electrical and water, and that customer praised how they leave a job site. On a maintenance job, Mark came by, took photos and measurements and sent an estimate the next day; that customer said they showed up as promised and were done on schedule. A recent customer whose gravel driveway was redone said the written quote came in quickly and the driveway is compacted enough that it should keep grass and weeds from growing through it.

A 2026 customer said the company redid their driveway into a smooth, two-lane driveway with no more dipping when pulling in, at a price that customer called very reasonable. A 2024 customer said Mark responded to an emergency at the beginning of a holiday weekend, leaving a current project with that client's approval, and came in within another company's estimate.

A 2024 customer described a bad experience: they said Mark Talbert charged emergency rates for a job done during normal weekday working hours, destroyed a buried power line, and refused to share his contractor liability insurance information or take responsibility for the damage. That 2024 customer said the billing stood at $500 an hour.

**Strengths:**
- Driveway drainage work — Greg rebuilt, graded and crowned a recent customer's driveway
- Storm washout response — a recent customer said they respond fast after storms
- Next-day estimate — Mark sent a recent customer an estimate the next day
- Emergency help — a 2024 customer said Mark came at a holiday weekend's start

**Concerns:**
- Billing dispute — a 2024 customer said weekday work was billed at emergency rates
- Damaged power line — a 2024 customer said a buried line was destroyed
