## The honest read

A recent Google customer said The Difference Landscapes turned stumpy overgrowth into almost a quarter acre of lawn. The company is in Lee, according to a 2025 Reddit commenter who said it does lawn mowing and maintenance. Its website lists landscape design and installation, lawn care, mulching, irrigation systems, landscape lighting and snow and ice removal, with a stated service area that includes Durham, Dover, Portsmouth and Exeter. A 2023 HomeAdvisor reviewer wrote that it had recently changed its name from Make A Difference Landscaping. It holds 4.5 stars from 70 Google ratings and an A+ grade with the BBB.

A recent customer said a new lawn came out well and the process was easy. A recent reviewer said Greg and the company installed a stone driveway to store a fishing boat. A recent customer said the crews saved them on a large commercial job right before a grand opening.

A 2025 customer wrote that an addition and its excavation ruined a large area of lawn, that Greg came out and gave a detailed explanation of what they would do, and that his crew showed up when they said they would. A 2025 customer described a fall cleanup and leaf removal on a yard with many large old trees, finished in a few hours. A 2024 customer said the company removed brush around a pond and cleaned up well. A 2023 customer said Ian and his team, led by Dan, installed a large patio and stuck to the quoted price despite small changes for the shape and slope of the property. A 2023 customer said Ian and his crew installed a new retaining wall and walkway while working through heavy rain and cold weather.

A 2026 customer said that when scheduling an estimate, the person on the phone read a disclaimer about how much they would need to spend with the company each year, including $7500 on hardscaping. A 2024 customer said the first reply to an inquiry was that the company has a minimum $1500 charge. A 2025 customer gave one star, saying customer service and communication got worse over the years and that, when renewing a plowing contract, they were told the company had changed its policy. A 2023 Angi reviewer called the work sub-par and said employees threw lunch and snack trash into the yard and tried to bury it. A 2019 customer said the company charged more than the price quoted over the phone and failed to clean up areas they asked for. A 2014 customer said a job priced at $175 was billed at $240.

**Strengths:**
- Lawn installs — a recent customer said a new lawn came out well
- Stone driveway install — a recent reviewer said Greg and the company installed one
- Lawn repair plan — a 2025 customer said Greg explained it in detail
- Patio held to quote — a 2023 customer said the quoted price held despite changes

**Concerns:**
- Annual-spend disclaimer — a 2026 customer heard it while scheduling an estimate
- A $1500 minimum — a 2024 inquiry got that as the first reply
- Declining communication — a 2025 customer said it got worse over the years
- Billed above quote — a 2019 customer said the charge exceeded the phone quote
