## The honest read

The Magnolia Tree Services is a tree company that says it serves Stratford, Bridgeport and Milford and has been in business for ten years. The company's website lists tree removal, emergency tree removal, stump removal, pruning, cabling and bracing, tree health work and planting. It holds 5 stars from 29 Google ratings, and 4.9 stars from 129 ratings on both Angi and HomeAdvisor.

A recent customer wrote in Spanish to thank Roger and his team for cutting the trees at their house. A 2024 customer said owner Roger came to their home, and that the cleanup after taking down a large elm tree was like cleaning a kitchen. A 2024 customer said Roger and his crew helped protect the hemlocks and trees in the yard, and that he was upfront about when spraying would help the trees instead of trying to make a quick buck. That 2024 customer also said he offered tips on how to prune a few of the smaller trees.

A 2023 customer said they hired Roger and his crew to treat a diseased tree and trim several trees, including sculpting the hollies, and that on returning that evening there was almost no trace they had been there. A 2021 customer said Roger and his crew trimmed two very large overgrown trees, and that Roger explained everything they were doing and why. A 2020 customer said they and a neighbor had used the company three separate times for different projects, one of them a storm emergency.

**Strengths:**
- Hemlock care advice — a 2024 customer said he was upfront about when spraying helps
- A clean elm takedown — a 2024 customer compared the cleanup to cleaning a kitchen
- Storm emergency work — a 2020 customer said it was one of three projects
