The company's website says Bill Harwood and Chris Herold bring 60 years of combined experience, and it lists a service area of 15 towns, among them Haddam, Madison and Middletown. A recent customer said the team that removed a very large tree was careful to protect the lawn and stonewalls. Another job, described recently, was the pruning of two very large trees near a house, one an old copper beech that appeared to be dying. A 2026 customer said Bill brought three boom trucks or cranes, skid steers, a wood chipper and six workers to take down six large oaks in a front yard. A 2026 customer said Chris and his crew took a fallen tree off their car and had the yard cleaned up in about an hour. A 2025 customer said a crew of four removed a line of 50- to 60-foot cedars next to a stockade fence, hoisting them over the house with a crane. A 2025 customer said Chris and two other workers cut down a problem tree near a shed in an hour, at a quoted cost far less than a competitor's. A 2023 customer said the company's arborist identified and treated an unusual problem with a Norwegian spruce. **Strengths:** - Spotless cleanup — a recent customer said all debris was cleared - A quick proposal — one recent customer had it two days after the visit - A crane removal — a 2025 customer said cedars were hoisted over the house - Copper beech pruning — a recent customer had a dying beech pruned ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - The website says Bill Harwood and Chris Herold bring 60 years of combined experience _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.thetreeco.co) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): The Tree Company was founded to provide fair value, trusted advice, and expert arborist services delivered …” - The website lists a 15-town service area including Haddam, Madison and Middletown _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.thetreeco.co) — “Stated service area (self-reported): Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, Essex, Glastonbury, Haddam, East Haddam, Killingworth, …” - A recent customer described four trees felled and the job done in just over two hours, with a spotless clean-up _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2tGcGFqaEhXbXROWjJ3eU0xcFhOMmh6Vm5GbVVXYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x110f548de7e0cf21!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkFpajhHWmtNZ2wyM1pXN2hzVnFmUWc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Bill and his crew at The Tree Company.
