## The honest read

The Weatherstrip, doing business as FPP Restoration, works out of Waltham restoring historic wood windows — matching period glass and hardware, re-caning stained glass, and fitting storm windows rather than pushing vinyl replacements, by its own account. It also carries a Procore Construction Network specialty-contractor profile tied to eight shown projects there, under a broader commercial glazing and curtain-wall category — a different, more commercial-sounding label than the residential window-restoration work its own site describes.

Its written record is thin and dated: two Google reviews, both from late 2023, both one star. One customer said the company had done a large job for them roughly a decade earlier but couldn't get a response when they tried to reach the owner, Fred, again — the phone line and website were still up, but nobody answered. The other left no detail at all.

Massachusetts' registry shows the company's home improvement contractor registration has expired. Google currently shows 2.6 stars from nine ratings.

Anyone considering The Weatherstrip for historic window or stained-glass restoration should confirm the registration status and get someone on the phone before committing, given the reachability concerns raised in its most recent reviews.

**Strengths:**
- Niche focus — specializes in historic window and stained-glass restoration

**Concerns:**
- Registration expired — state registry shows HIC lapsed
- Reachability doubts — 2023 review says owner stopped answering
- Mixed Google rating — 2.6★ from nine ratings

**Where sources disagree:**
- Its own site describes residential historic window restoration, while its Procore profile lists it under broader commercial glazing and curtain-wall specialties
