# Tom Dowd Co.

**Trade:** General Contractor / Remodeling · **Address:** 26 Strongwater Rd, Methuen, MA 01844, USA · **Phone:** (978) 815-8198 · **Languages:** English

**Rating: not yet scored** — 0 reviews across 3 sources is too little evidence for an honest number.

## The honest read

Thirteen permitted jobs in Methuen show what Tom Dowd Co. spends its days on: roofing, siding, window replacements, decks, bathroom remodels, a garage, additions, and one commercial day-spa buildout. Thomas Dowd runs it as a sole proprietorship — the BBB lists it as a construction-services business started 2/2002, in its 24th year, with two employees, and grades it A+.

The work it advertises runs wider than the permits: kitchens and baths, dormers, carpentry and cabinets, basement and whole-home remodels, garages, residential and commercial projects. On Google the company holds a 3.5★ average from two ratings.

One thing to settle before hiring: the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration tied to the company, #146294, is expired on the state registry. BuildZoom lists that same number for the business. Ask where the registration stands now, and ask for a current certificate of insurance, before you sign anything.

For a Methuen-area roof, a siding or window job, or an addition from a two-person shop with a long local permit trail, Tom Dowd Co. is a reasonable call. Start with the registration question, then get the scope, the schedule and the price in writing.

**Strengths:**
- Methuen permit history — 13 permitted local projects listed on BuildZoom
- Exterior work — roofing, siding, windows and decks among the permits
- Additions and remodels — kitchens, baths, basements, dormers and garages
- BBB grade — A+ for a two-employee sole proprietorship

**Concerns:**
- Expired registration — state registry shows HIC #146294 expired

**Where sources disagree:**
- The BBB and BuildZoom profiles give the company's address as 99 Pilgrim Circle, Methuen, while it is also listed at 26 Strongwater Road, Methuen.
