## The honest read

Top Notch Builders is a Wakefield design-build remodeler that, by its own account, has been run by founder Robert McGuire for more than 25 years. In 2018 McGuire added the McGuire + Co. Kitchen & Bath showroom to bring design and construction under one roof, and the company says it takes on kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, whole-home renovations, ADUs and exterior work like windows, porches and decks across Wakefield, Greater Boston and the North Shore.

Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held under Top Notch Builders Construction Inc. There isn't a public review history to draw on yet beyond a single 5-star Google rating, so there's no track record here to characterize one way or the other — anyone considering them for a kitchen or bath project should ask for references directly and see recent work in person before signing a contract.

**Strengths:**
- Verified HIC license — Massachusetts registration is active under Top Notch Builders Construction Inc
- Long operating history — self-reported 25-plus years under founder Robert McGuire
