Its website describes work from roofing repairs after a storm to full roof replacements, in asphalt, wood and composite shingles, and lists 14 towns in its service area, among them Branford, Guilford, Madison, New Haven and New London. On its BBB page, the company describes itself as offering roofing, siding, windows, doors, kitchen and bath remodeling, decks, porches, basement waterproofing and additions. A 2022 customer whose pipe burst underneath the house, with siding and joist to be ripped out to reach it, said Dana showed up the next morning, gave a quote and got the repairs done that afternoon, working well into the dark. A 2023 customer said Dana and his crew completed a porch ceiling repair in a timely manner. A 2022 customer who used the company for a kitchen sink leak and a tub drain said the voicemail was full but a text message got a same-day response. A 2021 customer said Dana Mickelson had replaced their roof 10 years earlier, and that when a leak stain appeared on the kitchen ceiling, Dana said he would come by and then did not come or call back. In an addendum to that 2021 review, the customer said Dana contacted them the next day, apologized, inspected the roof and found no defects in the product or workmanship, then came back to pull the siding from around a window looking for the problem; the source was not definitively found, and the customer said they were pleased with his willingness. A 2025 customer said a roof the company did several years earlier was leaking because of faulty installation, with material lifting and wet, rotted sub-roof plywood, and that the owner, Dana, would not answer phone calls and the voicemail was always full. A 2022 reviewer writing from Europe said the company processed a payment on their credit card although they had never done work with it, and that the man who answered the phone said he had not worked under this business name in 5 years. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0672855, as expired, held by Total Exteriors LLC. **Strengths:** - Next-morning visit — a 2022 customer said Dana showed up the next morning - Porch ceiling repair — a 2023 customer said the job was completed in a timely manner - A same-day text reply — a 2022 customer said a text got a same-day response **Concerns:** - Roof leak complaint — a 2025 customer said a roof from years earlier was leaking - A disputed card charge — a 2022 reviewer said they never used the company - Hard-to-reach phone — a 2025 customer said the voicemail was always full **Where sources disagree:** - A 2022 reviewer said the man who answered the business's phone said he had not worked under this business name in 5 years, while the company's website says it has been in business 24 years. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - The company says it has been in business 24 years. _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.totalexteriorsllc.com) — “Self-reported 24 years in business” - Its website describes roofing repairs after storms and full roof replacements in asphalt, wood and composite shingles. _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.totalexteriorsllc.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): From roofing repairs after a storm to full roof replacements, we have a wide range of materials including a…” - Its stated service area lists 14 towns, including Branford, Guilford, Madison, New Haven and New London. _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.totalexteriorsllc.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): Branford, East Haven, North Branford, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Westbrook, New London, Old Saybrook, O…” - On its BBB page the company describes itself as offering roofing, siding, windows, doors, kitchen and bath remodeling, decks, porches, basement waterproofing and additions. _(confidence: medium)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/branford/profile/roofing-contractors/total-exteriors-llc-0111-87060293) — “About (Better Business Bureau, self-described): Total Exteriors, LLC offers construction and home improvements as well as repair; roofing, s…” - A 2022 customer said Dana showed up the morning after a pipe burst and got the repairs done that afternoon. _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sChZDSUhNMG9nS0VJQ0FnSUNXcHRUamZBEAE!2m1!1s0x0:0x9b2399d773ee0be4!3m1!1s2@1:CIHM0ogKEICAgICWptTjfA%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ I had a pipe burst underneath my house and needed some siding and joist ripped out to get to it.
