Last 6 months: 95 reviews, 1 negative. ## The honest read Total Mechanical Systems is a Plainville heating, cooling and plumbing company with 4.8 stars from 3,774 Google ratings. October 2026 Google customers credit technicians by name, including Anthony R., Marcus, Michelle, Derek, Dave L and Gary the plumber; Gary is named in six October 2026 reviews, for jobs including an expansion tank installed quickly. One October 2026 customer says Derek arrived with the parts and repaired a burst pipe feeding the furnace after the customer had shut the water off at 1am, when other companies were not replying. Another says Declan and Kyle installed a new furnace, and an October 2026 reviewer says Anthony wore shoe covers during an annual mini split inspection and still arrived after typical hours when running behind. The company says on its website that it has 25 years in business and offers 24/7 emergency service, with boiler, furnace, heat pump, ductless and oil-to-gas conversion work. It has been featured on NBC Connecticut's CT LIVE! HomeAdvisor shows 4.5 stars from 123 ratings and Angi 4.6 from 64. In an April 2024 Angi review, a customer who bought a split system through Home Depot says a smaller unit than ordered was installed, the downstairs was left too cold to live in, and the company said moving back to the larger unit would void the warranty. In a March 2022 HomeAdvisor review, a customer says a new boiler and water heater installation failed three times in two days, with incorrect panel wiring and piping that flooded the basement. On Angi, a January 2023 reviewer says a thermostat rewiring cost well over double what it should have, a July 2025 reviewer objects to the refrigerant charge, and an April 2020 reviewer says a $100 diagnosis fee was not refunded after a $2,100 quote. The business holds an active Connecticut S1 heating and cooling contractor licence, HTG.0407914-S1, under Total Mechanical Systems LLC. **Strengths:** - Named technicians — October 2026 customers credit Gary, Anthony R., Derek - Emergency repair — October 2026 customer had a burst furnace pipe fixed - Mini split work — 2026 customers describe an install and an inspection **Concerns:** - Undersized system — April 2024 customer says resizing would void warranty - Failed installation — March 2022 customer reports basement flooding twice - Pricing complaints — 2020, 2023 and 2025 Angi customers dispute charges ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Active Connecticut S1 heating and cooling contractor licence HTG.0407914-S1, held by Total Mechanical Systems LLC _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx) — “CT hvac license HTG.0407914-S1 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: TOTAL MECHANICAL SYSTEMS LLC.” - 4.8 stars from 3,774 Google ratings; 4.5 from 123 on HomeAdvisor; 4.6 from 64 on Angi _(confidence: high)_ - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.TotalMechanicalSystems.26415042.html) — “HomeAdvisor: 4.5★ from 123 ratings” - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ct/plainville/total-mechanical-systems-llc-reviews-6258611.htm) — “Angi: 4.6★ from 64 ratings” - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Total%20Mechanical%20Systems&query_place_id=ChIJfcpkxw8m5okRVTg7I5scY3g) — “Google: 4.8★ from 3774 ratings” - Gary the plumber is named in six October 2026 Google reviews _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT25Ob00xQnZkM3BZZERaeldrUlpaRlphY3pFM01VRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x78631c9b233b3855!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOnNoM1Bvd3pYdDZzWkRZZFZaczE3MUE%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Gary, the plumber.
