## The honest read

Trombly Plumbing & Heating told the BBB it was established in 1987, incorporated in Vermont in 1991 and employs an average of 6 local tradespeople. Its website lists faucet and toilet repair and replacement, minor drain cleaning, and water filtration and treatment. It holds an A+ BBB grade and a 3.8-star Google rating from 24 ratings, and a 2026 Reddit commenter in r/vermont named "Trombly Plumbing in St. J."

A 2026 customer said Trombly has handled inspection items, created working systems and taken last-minute service calls for them. A 2026 customer whose boiler had a bad expansion tank said they called on a Friday, were told a tech would call, called again Saturday and Monday, and still had not been contacted by Thursday; they got someone else to fix the boiler.

A 2025 reviewer whose water pressure was dropping said Rick came out the next day to scope the problem, and when it got worse, Patrick was sent out within an hour to get it fixed. That 2025 reviewer also wrote that the office has high call volumes and gets back to customers on a first come basis. A 2024 reviewer said Trombly had helped them multiple times, including on holidays, and that Heather tried to diagnose problems and walk them through possible solutions before sending someone out.

A 2023 customer said Al helped install their heating system. A 2023 customer who bought an old Vermont home said Trombly addressed a couple of severe leaks in its old pipes. A 2023 reviewer had a furnace replacement done and installed in less than a week. A 2022 reviewer said Caleb came to repair their hot water heater.

In a 2025 review, a caller with a broken pipe after hours said Heather told them they were not regular customers and would not help; the reviewer added that Trombly's estimate for the plumbing on their home addition was "more than double the next guys." A 2025 reviewer said Trombly never showed for a major job they had contracted, and did not respond to messages about defective work on a smaller job. A 2022 reviewer said the person who took their call promised to check the schedule and get back to them, and that did not happen.

**Strengths:**
- Within-hour return visit — a 2025 reviewer said Patrick was sent within an hour
- Heating system install — a 2023 customer said Al helped install one
- Old-pipe leak repair — a 2023 customer said severe leaks were addressed
- Quick furnace replacement — a 2023 reviewer said it was installed in under a week

**Concerns:**
- No call back — a 2026 customer heard nothing from Friday to Thursday
- Major-job no-show — a 2025 reviewer said they never showed
- After-hours refusal — a 2025 caller with a broken pipe was turned away
- High estimate — a 2025 reviewer said it was more than double the next
