## The honest read

Upgrade Handyman Service is a veteran-owned handyman and remodeling business based in Spencer, Massachusetts, working across Worcester County towns including Spencer, Worcester, Auburn, Grafton, Shrewsbury and neighboring communities. Its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (207347) is registry-verified and active, and the Better Business Bureau grades the business A+. Reviewers from 2024 through 2026 consistently describe fast callbacks, on-time arrivals and fair pricing across jobs ranging from doorknob and storm-door repairs to flooring installs, painting and a shed rebuild. One 2026 review flagged a deck-stair job where a promised concrete pad was skipped in favor of laying the stairs on asphalt.

**Strengths:**
- Responsive scheduling — reviewers describe quick callbacks and on-time arrivals
- Fair pricing — multiple reviewers call rates reasonable and work professional
- Broad handyman range — repairs, flooring, painting, and carpentry work handled
- Licensed and verified — MA HIC 207347 registry-active, BBB A+ grade

**Concerns:**
- Deck-stair shortcut — one review reports a promised concrete pad was skipped

**Where sources disagree:**
- The BBB profile records a 2022 start date and an alternate name, 'Very Good Handyman Service,' while the company's own site states it was founded in 2017.
- Several reviews refer to the business under a different working name, 'Upgrade Floor & Paint' / 'Upgrade Paint & Floor,' for the same owner, a name not used on the current site or BBB listing.
