The company reports eleven years in business under Mario Velasquez, and Thumbtack has marked it a background-checked Top Pro. What customers describe is consistently deck work, done well. One homeowner had an entire deck refinished with new Trex decking and vinyl railings, and when unseen damage to the support structure turned up mid-project, Mario communicated the problem and fixed it. Another reviewer had a cut-of-wood issue on a deck rebuild — the crew was back the next morning to correct it, and still said they'd hire again. A third called out a fast, friendly deck refurbishment. All twelve ratings on the platform are five stars. Worth asking about before booking: the written record is thin — three detailed reviews, all from 2025, all deck jobs. If you're hiring for the roofing or gutter work the Thumbtack listing also covers, ask to see recent examples, since the customer feedback on file doesn't touch that side of the business. For deck or porch work in the Waltham area, the pattern here — a crew that comes back to fix what didn't land right, and a perfect run of ratings — is the strongest thing to go on. **Strengths:** - Deck refurbishment — repeated praise for full Trex decking rebuilds - Responsive fixes — returned next morning to correct a wood-cut issue - Top Pro status — Thumbtack background-checked with a perfect rating **Concerns:** - Thin review record — only three detailed reviews on file, all deck jobs - Roofing unproven — service list includes roof/gutter work with no reviewed jobs ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Thumbtack shows a 5.0-star rating across 12 ratings, all five stars. _(confidence: high)_ - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/waltham/decks/v-castillo-construccin-inc/service/488047167396175877) — “Thumbtack: 5.0★ from 12 ratings” - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/waltham/decks/v-castillo-construccin-inc/service/488047167396175877) — “Thumbtack star distribution: 100% 5★ (of 12 ratings)” - The company reports 11 years in business and is run by Mario Velasquez. _(confidence: medium)_ - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/waltham/decks/v-castillo-construccin-inc/service/488047167396175877) — “Thumbtack profile for V Castillo Construcción Inc of Waltham, MA — Exceptional 5.0 rating across 12 reviews, 11 years in business, Top Pro s…” - Reviewers repeatedly praise deck refurbishment work, including a full Trex decking and vinyl railing replacement. _(confidence: high)_ - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/waltham/decks/v-castillo-construccin-inc/service/488047167396175877) — “Very happy with the deck refurbishment Mario and his team did for us.
