## The honest read

Van Etten Plumbing & Heating holds a 4.8-star Google rating from 32 ratings. A recent first-time customer said they answered a non-emergency request quickly, came out right away with a quote and were back a short time later to install a shutoff valve on the hot water line, replace two washing-machine feed shutoffs and the drain piping with a new trap, and add a cleanout before the septic line.

A recent customer said Jake came out the same day to quote a water heater replacement, explained the benefits of a standard water heater compared to a heat pump without pressure, and installed it the next day in two hours, hauling away the old unit. A recent customer said Jake came the same day, attempted to snake out a problem in 80-year-old pipes and came back the next day to swap over to PVC pipes. A recent customer said a new water heater, outside faucet replacements and a smart water main shut-off system were installed and the work was explained thoroughly. A recent customer said Jake fixed a basement leak fast.

A 2024 customer said they installed two new water heaters and upgraded the entire plumbing system. A 2024 customer said Rich and Jake were the only ones of five or six plumbing contractors to get back to them, and that John, a helper, completed a single-to-double sink vanity conversion and tested the system for leaks. A 2024 customer said that after a burst basement pipe that morning, they were there to take care of it by noon. A 2024 customer said they had used Van Etten Plumbing since 2008.

A 2024 customer gave one star and called them verbally abusive during a paid job.

**Strengths:**
- Next-day water heater — a recent install took two hours, old unit hauled away
- Same-day visit — a recent customer said Jake came the same day
- Burst pipe response — a 2024 customer said they arrived by noon

**Concerns:**
- Conduct on a job — a 2024 customer called them verbally abusive
