## The honest read

Weathertite Roofing and Remodeling is a Pembroke-based roofer that James Wareham started in 1984, and the reviews are almost all about James himself — homeowners call him by name, and one 2026 customer mentions having worked alongside the owner and his two sons. The company describes itself as family-operated and lists roofing alongside siding, windows, doors, decks, patios and kitchen and bath remodels. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 215709, is registry-verified active.

The roofing customers describe is mostly diagnosis and repair rather than wholesale replacement. One homeowner had shingles blown off in a winter storm and says James came out to survey the damage within two days of the call. Another had a roof that had leaked for years and says James and his crew fixed it. A customer who once owned a roofing company himself says he knew what to look for and that the finished work was put together properly. One roof was completed in a single day with the yard kept tidy in the meantime, and another homeowner notes there were no nails left on the ground afterwards.

Plenty of the work reaches past the roof. A 2026 customer describes a plumbing failure that meant replacing walls and ceilings in three bathrooms, with James doing the plumbing, the painting and the wall work himself and fixing a kitchen screen door nobody had asked him to touch. Others describe gutters installed and repaired and a back deck rebuilt after storm damage. Going back to 2023, customers describe a deck built to connect two mismatched patios, a roof deck with stair installation, and a wooden patio with pool deck and steps. In a December 2024 review a homeowner says James shared video footage of what he had found on the roof and talked it through before replacing the damaged section, and a May 2025 customer says other roofers told her she needed a full replacement without ever looking at it, while James came out and assessed the damage first.

One account runs entirely against that. BBB's profile carries an undated customer review alleging the company tore off a roof and then disappeared with the money. It carries no date and no further particulars, and it sits beside a Google profile at 5 stars from 53 ratings and a BBB grade of A+. Ask about it directly before you sign anything.

For a South Shore homeowner with a leak, storm damage or an ageing roof this is a straightforward call, and the same crew takes on decks, gutters and interior remodels. Get the scope and the payment schedule in writing, agree what happens if the tear-off uncovers more damage, and ask how the workmanship is backed.

**Strengths:**
- Storm response — 2026 customers describe surveys within two days
- Long-standing leaks — a 2026 roof leaking for years was fixed
- Clean sites — reviewers note tidy yards and no nails left
- Shows the damage — a 2024 customer was shown video of the roof
- Decks and patios — 2023 accounts describe roof decks, stairs and pool decks

**Concerns:**
- Undated BBB complaint — alleges a roof torn off and money kept
- Scope breadth — one crew covers roofing, decks, plumbing and remodels

**Where sources disagree:**
- An undated BBB review alleging the company took payment and left the roof torn off stands against a Google profile of 5 stars from 53 ratings and a BBB grade of A+.
- The business address on file is in Pembroke while the company's own site states its service area as Hanson.
