# Wells & Company Builders **Trade:** Bathroom Remodel · **Address:** 5 Burley St, Wenham, MA 01984, USA · **Phone:** (617) 848-8890 · **Website:** http://wellsandcompany.com/ · **Languages:** English **Rating: 4.2/5** (medium confidence) — from 17 reviews across 5 sources. 100% of sentiment-scored reviews read net-positive. Last 6 months: 1 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read A couple went away on vacation and came home to new windows and doors installed, the house and the yard exactly as they had left them. That account, written in March 2026, gets at what customers of Wells & Company Builders keep putting in writing — not only the finished work, but how little disruption they had to live through to get it. Toby Wells runs the firm out of Wenham. The company describes itself as second-generation and family-owned, doing design-forward, sustainable renovations and new homes across the North Shore and greater Boston. Its Better Business Bureau profile grades it A+ and shows six years in business. The jobs are more often whole-house than single-room. One family writing in March 2026 had the kitchen, the first-floor living area and every bathroom in the house remodeled as one project. A 2023 customer with an 1890s period home wanted modern electrical and updates that kept the original character; another in 2023 had a 1930 Georgian Colonial reworked for better flow, from a designer's plan, without gutting it. Additions and finished space turn up too: a sunroom addition and a bathroom renovation for one repeat client in 2024, an attic finished in 2023 with the insulation and sound dampening that customer specifically wanted, and a 2023 master bathroom where a tub and enclosed shower came out for a larger shower and a linen closet — demolition, plumbing, electrical, framing and tile in one run. What customers credit most is the front end. A May 2026 homeowner described the approach as heavy planning up front to keep surprises out of the build; a 2024 client said Toby was thoughtful about pricing and steered them to stay inside their budget while still getting the result they wanted. Several go out of their way to praise the subcontractors he brings in, which is not a thing homeowners usually mention. When pandemic-era material shortages hit a Jamaica Plain Colonial mid-project — recalled by that customer in a March 2026 review — they wrote that the crew stayed steady and delivered what had been promised, delays and all. People come back. One reviewer counted two renovations and a post-storm garage repair; another listed three projects at the same house; a condo owner had a major kitchen done and then smaller repairs before renting the unit out. If you are renovating an older house and care what happens to it — the flow, the trim, the details that make it what it is — this is that kind of builder, with Toby present while the work runs. Settle the scope and the budget in the planning stage: the customers who sound happiest are the ones who had those long conversations before anyone picked up a tool. **Strengths:** - Planning-first builds — customers cite up-front planning that kept surprises down - Period homes — 1890s and 1930s houses updated without losing their character - Owner on site — Toby is present through the job and answers questions - Budget guidance — 2024 client says pricing advice kept them inside budget - Subcontractors praised — reviewers single out the trades brought onto the job - Repeat clients — customers describe two and three projects each **Concerns:** - Material-driven delays — a pandemic-era project ran late on supply shortages ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Graded A+ by the Better Business Bureau, which lists the company as not accredited and shows six years in business _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/wenham/profile/general-contractor/wells-and-company-0021-539612) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/wenham/profile/general-contractor/wells-and-company-0021-539612) — “BBB profile for Wells and Company (Wells & Company Builders) in Wenham, MA lists an A+ rating, not BBB accredited, and shows 6 years in busi…” - A 5-star average across 18 Google ratings, with written customer accounts running from 2021 through 2026 _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT20xWmVqbDFaR0Z3ZDFWZlpHMU1YME5VTm0wdE9XYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xf8d5efde090f49b1!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOm1Zejl1ZGFwd1VfZG1MX0NUNm0tOWc%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ We could not be happier with our home renovations performed by Wells and Co!
