Akerley Drilling and Blasting does the work that happens before a foundation can go in: ledge removal, excavating, on-site rock crushing, hydraulic hammering and rock splitting, on residential and commercial sites, out of Kondelin Road in Gloucester. Its site says the business was founded in 1982 and puts more than 40 years behind it. The public trail is thin and mostly old. A North Shore magazine listed the company as a blasting contractor at that same Gloucester address in October 2017. Google carries two ratings and one written review, posted in December 2024, that reads in full: "Best on the North East!" — enthusiastic, but it describes no job. That is the whole of it: one dated listing and one four-word review. If there is ledge between you and a foundation, driveway or septic system, this is the trade that clears it — but the things worth confirming are the ones no page will tell you. Ask for the blasting licence and current insurance certificates, ask how the pre-blast survey of neighbouring homes is handled, and ask for references from two or three recent jobs near you.
