Riley Brothers is not a home-remodeling outfit. It's a Stoughton utility infrastructure contractor — gas and power distribution, pipeline and facility construction, hydro excavation, asphalt, restoration — and most people who write about it are not customers at all. They're the neighbors whose street it is working on, and the drivers who share the road with its trucks. That shapes the whole record, and the record is rough. Google shows 2.9 stars across 56 ratings, and in the last six months four people wrote in, three of them unhappy. In July 2026 a resident said a job billed as one month was three months late, with the crew updating signs to announce each new delay, taking the street's parking, starting loud work early, and shutting off a water hookup for hours without warning. Two days earlier, another wrote that marked cones taken from their driveway turned up at the company's nearby worksite and that two voicemails went unreturned. The specific work complaints follow the same shape: cleanup and follow-through after the trench is closed. A May 2025 reviewer described road shaving that left potholes and hundreds of two-inch rocks scattered into their yard, and said a thin asphalt patch after the complaint left the rocks where they were. Two separate people — one on Google in July 2025, one on the company's BBB page — say the same thing about lawn restoration after a National Grid gas-pipe replacement: too little seed, then unanswered calls and emails. A cluster of one-star reviews from 2023 through early 2026 is about truck driving rather than construction at all. It isn't uniform. In May 2025 a homeowner wrote that after trenching the yard to move a gas meter outside, the crew came back and restored the yard "like it never happened," and singled out how they treated her elderly mother. A 2022 reviewer said the company had helped them out of a bind three separate times. Two other things belong on the table. Boston 25 News reported in October 2025 that an OSHA inspection report placed Riley Brothers on the job at a Quincy road-construction site the night a series of explosions injured a utility worker, and named the company as part of that investigation. And BuildZoom's records show a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration for the company listed as inactive, which BuildZoom says the state at one point showed as cancelled. If this company is coming to your street as a utility's subcontractor, you likely have no say in the hiring. What you can do is document the pre-work condition of your lawn, driveway and road frontage, and get the restoration commitment in writing from the utility rather than the crew — that is exactly where this record keeps breaking down.
“According to an OSHA inspection report, Riley Brothers, an infrastructure company in Stoughton, was on the job Tuesday night and is part of this investigation.”
Sure wouldn’t hire these guys if you want something done anywhere near on time. Been working on my street for months. Supposed to be a one month utility job, now 3 months late. They keep updating their little signs to tell us it’s another month late. Very disruptive to our whole street, taking up all the parking and giving us no warning of delays or updates, starting loud work at early hours, etc. They also shut off our water hookup without warning one day and it was off for hours. Watch them work all the time out my window - let’s just say safety isn’t first either.
Crew stole my cones. I had cones out front of my house because we have such limited parking and I need to able to park at my house. Well woke up one morning and they were missing. The cones I had were marked and had cut off tops. Next day I drive by their worksite near my house and see my cones with the cut off tops so I stopped to look at they where all marked. Tried to call and say something and I’ve left 2 voicemail. Never got a call back nothing. Watch out their crews might steal stuff from you too
Handsome man works there
Got run out of my lane on the road when their work truck decided the yield sign didn't apply to them. 0 stars for endangering the public. 1 star for getting wherever they were going early.
Saw their truck driving down Route 24 equipment wrapped in plastic pieces flying off all the way continuing to litter down 24.
